Position Summary
Full time internship during the summer with potential to continue support part-time through holidays/school year. Supports design control, component qualification and contract manufactured development projects for new products, configurations, or line extensions. Works closely with Development to understand critical characteristics/specifications, manufacturing processes, and support project tasks. Uses lab equipment (e.g., tensile testers, inspection equipment, drop gauges, etc) as required. Test suture materials, braids, and constructs in accordance with site procedures using USP test methods and reporting on results. Supports Design Control and other project deliverables related to Development projects and initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities
- Assists in writing and performing test protocols and reports
- Assists in the analysis of test data and documentation of key results
- Participates in qualification of new test equipment and performing Gauge R&Rs
- Supports customer communications and project tracking
- Writes test methods as needed under guidance from Development Engineers
- Assists with customer requests and requests for quotes (RFQs)
- Assists with completion and tracking of project deliverables
- Assists to collect data and create documentation for project deliverables
- Supports administrative tasks related to project and/or development activities
- Able to use critical thinking concepts
- Maintains a cooperative and motivational attitude with co-workers
Responsibilities continued
- Ability to provide clear and concise written reports to supervisor or manager and to keep them abreast of activities and results
- Ability to read, understand, and apply procedures according to established guidelines
- Capture requirements, review processes and propose areas for improvement
- Interfaces with a variety of internal and external customers including Manufacturing, Marketing, R&D, and Regulatory
- Performs Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Process Qualification (PQ) protocols as needed
- Completes work in compliance with GMP and ISO regulations and within safety guidelines
Education / Experience Requirements
- Highschool graduate currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or Science related field
- Previous experience with working in a laboratory environment preferred
- Familiar with GMP and medical experience preferred
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word & Excel required
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and accept challenges and adaptable to change
- Basic statistics knowledge prefered
- Ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities
- Ability to solve problems and analyze data
- Ability to think and work independently but also work well in teams
- Ability to work during holidays and summer required, in addition to working during the regular work/school weeks.
- Ability to adapt to a variety of software applications
