Position Summary

This leadership position is responsible to partner with Vascular R&D, Marketing and Innovation teams in leading the creation, management and direction for hardware/software and digital health technology development to improve and eliminate complications in critical care.  Responsibilities include partnering with the product line owners in the creation and management of the new product pipeline and roadmap, supporting the development of the strategic plan for the overall business. This role also leads and coordinates the lifecycle management of navigation technology development, including personnel (internal and external) and activities associated with requirements planning and product development of medical devices, electronics, software, hardware, and digital health tools in accordance with medical device and regulatory standards. This position is responsible to assure compliance with all quality system requirements, as well as the company's Design Control and Product Gating processes.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Oversee, as Engineering lead, all aspects of new product development from concept through commercialization, including the use of appropriate tools and testing approaches to build and maintain highly reliable and effective hardware, software and digital systems.
•    Provide leadership in HW/SW and Digital health technology awareness and development to augment the value we provide to our customers including conducting customer visits in the field to understand unmet needs.
•    Utilize resource team to execute system development, including 3rd party resources, with current state of the art development approaches, to efficiently prototype and refine development alternatives.
•    Build system infrastructure required to effectively manage requirements through testing for complex products.
•    Provide subject matter expertise to the business in order to continue to refine business processes to meet demands.
•    Partner with Program Management, Marketing, Quality Engineering, Regulatory, outside resources and Manufacturing around development and business objectives.
•    Collaborate with the Program Management to plan, execute and technically lead multiple projects using project plans and schedules to track and communicate development activity from concept to commercialization.  Interface with clinicians, customers, marketing, and process development to understand customer preferences and business requirements,  to establish design criteria and improvement recommendations.
•    Implement engineering best practices and best technologies to meet the design requirements and build the applications.
•    Partner with related product category leads on projects where requirements cross category team boundaries. Collaborate on shared activities to meet business needs.
•    Serve as a mentor for engineering personnel on clinician interaction, product design and development, verification and validation testing, design history file documentation and business leadership
•    Represent Teleflex R&D at hospitals scientific sessions and seminars to meet with medical personnel, understand trends and competition, and unmet customer needs.
•     Comply with Teleflex’s code of Ethics, the company’s Quality system, and all company policies, rules and housekeeping standards.
•    Be prepared to travel to support any aspects of the development lifecycle from requirements to support. 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    BS – Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Biomedical, Systems), Advanced degree preferred

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•     Familiarity and experience in medical electronic design, including systems engineering, hardware and software development and testing, Agile design concepts
•    10+ years’ experience in medical device product development, with a minimum of 5 years in progressively higher responsibility in medical electronic hardware and software design and development.
