Position Summary

The Global Commodity Manager position is a critical commercial leadership role that will service multiple business units and a diverse mix of sites within North America, European Union, & APAC, while ensuring compliance to various corporate level initiated activities. The position will drive and/or support Global Supply Chain Operations, while developing and implementing strategies for direct material that will reduce cost, improve quality & service levels, and mitigate risk to the overall enterprise.


Principal Responsibilities

•Management of our sterilisation partners worldwide in conjunction with our internal stakeholder.
•Ongoing support and supplier management due to capacity constraints within our sterilization partners worldwide
•Develop relationships with key personnel in strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders/customers
•Host supplier business reviews with strategic suppliers
•Pursue, initiate and drive cost improvement projects (CIPs) while robustly negotiating supplier inflation
•Negotiating, drafting and implementation of supplier contracts.
•Manage supply chain to ensure continuity of supply in key commodities
•Develop strategies for supplier consolidation.
•Drive inventory reductions, through supplier  MOQ negotiations and VMI programs
•Assure qualified suppliers are identified for all components and services. Work with existing suppliers to improve performance or identify alternate suppliers to maintain supplier base.
•Work cross functionally to manage the operations process between Demand and Supply planning for assigned products.
•Work cross functionally with the product development team to streamline the new product development process and minimize lead time to market.  Participate in design reviews to insure manufacturability of the product.
•Provide exceptional customer service to our customers, and distributors.
•Manage systems to maintain records of product distribution.
•Maintain an ability to generate and evaluate alternatives, analyse data, reach logical conclusions, and formulate recommendations for management review and consideration.
•Support all corporate level purchasing related activities for the region to ensure compliance with internal procedures and policies as a publicly traded medical device manufacturer (Teleflex Code of Ethics, SOX, FDA, Conflict Minerals, etc.).
•Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Requirements

•BS or BA degree in Business, Engineering, Science or a related field (MBA preferred)

•CPM or similar accreditation preferred

•A minimum of 8 - 10 years in managing regional procurement groups and/or efforts of diverse teams (preferably with a medical device manufacturer or large manufacturing-based organisation)

•Familiar with FDA, cGMP, and ISO quality system requirements for a diverse medical device manufacturer

•Experience in managing suppliers at a senior level in key commodities.

•In-depth knowledge of sterilisation and sterilisation service provider worldwide

•Possess a working understanding of international shipping and customs regulations.

•Excellent organisational and analytical skills

•Outstanding computer skills including MRP, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and the Internet.

•Highly competent with Operations and Supply Chain functionality of ERP systems like SAP Business One.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and critical thinking skills.
