Position Summary

The R&D Lab Tech is responsible for preparing and testing materials for new product development projects and existing medical devices.  Testing may include basic chemical, mechanical, and biological testing either performed in-house or coordinated with an external lab.  These responsibilities must be performed in a manner which complies with FDA Design Controls and ISO Standards.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Execute test procedures and protocols following GLP practices
•    Coordinate with vendors/suppliers to schedule, pay for, and get results of testing
•    Maintain laboratory and testing documentation
•    Maintain records of lab equipment calibration and maintenance
•    Assist Document Control team with database organization and filing
•    Maintain laboratory supplies and purchase as needed
•    Ensure that lab maintains cleanliness and safety standards
•    Lead organization of equipment and materials in lab
•    Perform other duties as assigned

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Minimum 1 year of experience working in lab setting, 3 years preferred
•    High school diploma
•    Familiarity with GMP and GLP practices
•    Ability to work in a smaller hands-on environment
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Experience working with medical devices and ISO 13485 a plus
•    Demonstrated experience utilizing tools and precision instruments
•    Knowledge in reading and executing test protocols
•    Experience in working with cross-functional teams and vendors/suppliers to complete projects
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships
•    Must be able to give and receive constructive feedback; contribute to building a positive team environment
