Position Summary

The Electronic Technician (ET), an integral part of the Maintenance Team, is responsible for the installation, fabrication, and troubleshooting and repair of all assigned manufacturing equipment throughout the Teleflex Medical OEM-Trenton, GA. facility. The position is expected to perform all preventive maintenance, diagnostic tests and controls, troubleshoot and identify root cause analysis of all electronic failures. The ET will verify equipment specifications by use of manufacturer’s Technical Manuals and White Papers, and record detailed documentation of all performed work.   This position will also support general maintenance troubleshooting and repairs.    

Principal Responsibilities

1.    Installation and fabrication of various pieces of production equipment, utilizing equipment design layout plans to ensure performance of equipment at optimum levels.
2.    Perform all scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities on all mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment assigned within the allotted time frame.
3.    Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, modify, rebuild, or overhaul all mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment and controls.
4.    Identify root cause of equipment failures on assigned equipment by using VOM, oscilloscope, laptop computer and bench testing apparatus to detect and repair/replace faulty components to the circuit board level.
5.    Calibrate, test, and adjust all related diagnostic control systems; to include PLCs, HMIs, laptop computers, and other hardware/software platforms of equipment control. 
6.    Acts as a technical liaison sourcing and placing orders for parts and supplies.
7.    Verify specifications on equipment and complete standardized documentation for installation, maintenance, and operations qualifications.
8.    Maintain work area, materials, tools, and equipment to ensure serviceability, cleanliness, and a safe environment.
9.    Actively communicates with all shop personnel and management staff concerning standard operating procedures and requirements for working safely with mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment and components.
10.    Participation serving on various committees to provide input in quality issues, safety issues and lean initiatives on a variety of topics. 
11.    Continually strive for improvements in the design and set up of equipment to enhance a  safe and ergonomically designed layout and operational efficiency.
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Associates degree in electronics from an accredited college; and/or the successful completion of a recognized electronic technician training program.

•    Minimum of five years of recent and verifiable experience as an electrical/electronic technician; including a combination of experience in at least two of the following areas; digital, electro-mechanical or industrial electronics.
•    Knowledge of mechanical/electrical/electronic theory and principles, wiring specifications, local and national building codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment.
•    Knowledge of process controls and utilization of sensor technology.
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
•    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  
•    Ability to read blueprints and schematics required.
•    Knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and mechanical disciplines.  
•    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
•    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
•    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
•    Must be able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
•    Must be able to obtain forklift license.
•    Arc flash training required which will encompass first aid, bloodborne pathogen and CPR (provided by Teleflex).
•    Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
