Position Summary

Search, develop, implement and monitor cost improvement ideas (CIP´s) for both direct and indirect materials in connection with the regional and global commodity teams. Lead and coordinate all procurement activities arising from business transfers or introduction of new projects by connecting with the global and regional commodity teams, the Purchasing organization, R&D and Supplier quality group.  Will implement, execute and monitor the most relevant Financial KPI´s for the procurement organization such as CIP´s, Inflation & Piece Price Variation (PPV).  

Principal Responsibilities

  • Identify cost improvement opportunities and lead the implementation of these projects until the savings are well captured in the system and the benefit it is materialized within the organization
  • Conducts benchmark analysis throughout the appropriate channels (Regional/Global commodity groups & Indirect Sourcing Leaders) to ensure the organization is getting competitive prices for the goods and services acquired thru either external sources or internal production process
  • Help finding new commercial partners who will engage with the organization to improve one or multiple areas of the supply chain such as cost, delivery, quality, service, etc.
  • Will develop, implement, and maintain robust tools to manage Financial KPI´s such as CIP´s, Inflation, PPV and contract management.
  • Works closely with the Finance department to obtain financial information, update CIPs in PlanView, define transfers, etc.
  • Lead and coordinate new project introduction & business transfer into any of the MX sites from a procurement perspective. Will coordinate activities throughout the multidisciplinary team (Procurement, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, R&D, Finance and any other) to guarantee that all supply chain for the project is well stablished and reliable for the organization
  • Lead, coordinate and execute continuous improvement initiatives for the supply chain process from but not limited to the Procurement role
  • Support the Purchasing/Planning organization to improve their processes when needed by facilitating communication between the groups, the own procurement teams and the external suppliers.  
  • Represent the Procurement organization in the site for any escalation/need that requires on site presence or urgent attention to a critical issue
  • Be an extension for the site of the Regional Commodity Manager when an escalation, urgency or any other needs pop ups.
  • Will lead and coordinate the rolling cost process every year (when applies) in connection with Purchasing, Finance and any other area who interacts with the process
  • Conducts VSM, and lean exercises with the best suppliers to identify and eliminate waste and increase profitability.
  • Provides functional guidance to young/new employees to achieve operational objectives. Acquire, develop and retain the best people.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Science or Supply Chain Management and Logistics (MBA preferred).
  • CPM or similar accreditation is preferred.
  • 3 years of experience working with customs brokers in a customs compliance capacity
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience with significant project management experience, preferably in a multinational medical device environment.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with demand planning forecasting tools.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • The work site is located in Tecate, Baja California.
