Position Summary
The National Sales Manager is responsible for market development, direction and management of all sales activities for the designated business unit. As an integral member of the Sales team, this position hires, develops, and manages a high achieving regional sales team that develops accounts to adopt the therapy. This position requires the ability to manage a remote based team effectively, a strong track record of over delivering revenue versus sales plan, and the ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Principal Responsibilities
Sales Delivery & Market Growth
- Drive in-market sales to achieve business goals and in-market sales targets.
- Identify business opportunities from existing and new customers/products/projects to capitalize on the opportunities.
- Provide ongoing communication on current market prices, market trends, account risk, opportunity, and development potentials to the reporting Manager.
- Stay in contact with decision-makers in all key hospitals on a regular basis to maintain good working relationship and to keep up with latest hospital/market info and drive proactive customer communication by conducting and leading internal/external business reviews with customer base.
- Monitor publications and announcements from customer base and target customers, channelling information to the reporting Manager.
- Lead and coach sales representatives to improve in-market sales in the respective territories.
- Develop sales team in-market sales incentive programs and manage strategic and tactical sales plans to penetrate key accounts and increase market shares.
Commercial Operations & Market Insights
- Manage sales force effectiveness to ensure the team execute our objectives, priorities and account coverage timely and correctly.
- Gain market insights to provide market info such as in-market sales quantity, market size, market shares, HCP and competitor updates.
- Provide feedback on product performance to next level in-line including product complaints according to Teleflex product complaint SOP.
- Manage allocated marketing expenses within specified budget and company policy guidelines.
- Performance responsibility includes safe growth with outcome accountability.
People Management & Leadership
- Evaluate team’s performance against established objectives/guidelines (in-market sales target, focus products, new products, targeted accounts, opening new accounts, etc.) and take appropriate action to continuously improve performance.
- Develop, and retain sales representatives in support of achieving business objectives.
- Oversee all performance management responsibilities; feedback/coaching, development planning, employee training, objective setting, performance reviews, etc.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to sales team through field visits, observation, and measurement of results.
- Ensure staff is trained and abides by company mission and ethics policies, and business conduct standards and that account information and knowledge management is current and accurate.
- Organize and lead weekly sales meeting to discuss about in-market sales update, promotional activities, education and workshop opportunities, data collection and problem solving.
Education / Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred. Experience will be considered if deemed adequate to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
- Sales/commercial experience in the assigned country market is preferred
- A demonstrated track record for meeting sales objectives in a Medical Device company
- Minimum 4 years and above of Sales experience with a leading medical device/consumable company or developing distribution agreements to grow the business
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
- Good with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point etc.
- Demonstrated functional experience in areas such as strategic selling, Key Account Management.
- Strong capability to open new accounts and service customers.
- People Management– has experience managing sales team and has People orientated personality.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of people having varying backgrounds, education and experience.
- Independent and trustworthy. A team player that treats individuals with dignity and respect and has strong ability for execution and have sense of urgency to get the jobs done.
- A high-energy self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, lean, entrepreneurial environment and will "roll up his/her sleeves" to get the job done.
