Position Summary

The Production Engineering Technician works closely with the Production Engineer to support the administration and coordination of production engineering projects, policies, processes, methods, and procedures. This role aims to enhance operational performance, minimize waste and delays, and drive cost reductions throughout the organization. This individual will work closely with the Production Engineer to support production transfers and implement process optimizations. The Production Engineering Technician establishes and maintains effective communication with employees, the manufacturing and quality departments, management, and other internal/external stakeholders.

Principal Responsibilities

Maintaining and Enhancing Existing Manufacturing Processes

  • Execute, monitor, and sustain improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Collect and analyze data from manufacturing operations and gather feedback from production personnel for continuous process improvement.
  • Support failure investigations and contribute to root cause analysis to resolve production issues effectively.
  • Provide first-level troubleshooting support for manufacturing-related problems and escalate complex issues to the Production Engineer with relevant data.
  • Assist the Production Engineer with second-level troubleshooting by supplying accurate and timely process data.
  • Train production personnel on new or existing procedures and verify the effectiveness and compliance of the training.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to enhance product quality, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe production workspaces in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Support process and equipment validation activities to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular checks and updates on critical manufacturing components and consumables.
  • Ensure all manufacturing steps are carried out accurately by production personnel, in alignment with standard operating procedures and quality systems.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards on the production floor, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Maintain close communication with production personnel and promptly share observations or concerns with the team.

Health and Safety

  • Uphold strict adherence to health and safety regulations by proactively assessing and mitigating potential hazards.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • NITEC or Diploma in any Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Prior engineering experience in the medical device industry is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes and methodologies such as Lean, Kaizen, Kanban, and other advanced manufacturing tools and concepts.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Proficient in SAP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Demonstrate effective time management and leadership skills
  • Good organizational, communication, and intercultural skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong focus on data and evidence-based decision-making.
