Position Summary

This San Diego based sales position is part of the Teleflex's Pain Management Sales team, and is responsible for driving an overall regional anesthesia and pain management strategy for the Southwest territory, which includes S.CA, NV, UT, AZ, and HI.  This position will support sales for our pain management products, including spinal, epidural, pain pump, perirpheral nerve block products under the brand of Arrow and Teleflex.   This position achieves sales goals through interface with clinicians – particularly chiefs of anesthesia, pain management physicians, nurses, members of the block team and various health care professionals throughout the hospital.  Reporting to a Senior Sales and Marketing Manager, this role ensures the maximization of territory sales, profitability, and future business opportunities for our pain management portfolio. 

Principal Responsibilities

•    Drive sales revenues by planning and coordinating sales activities in concert with the management team 
•    Monitor and report regional sales results and forecast to Regional Anesthesia Sr. Sales Manager
•    Be comfortable in working within a complex matrix environment being able to take the lead and inspire
•    Develop sales strategy and tactics with team members and support/drive execution
•    Communicate internally and externally, motivating people without the necessity of formal management/direct report authority
•    Manage and coordinate intercompany relationships (Director of Sales, RSM's, marketing, clinical education, training) so that targeted sales revenues are achieved monthly/quarterly.
•    Be a key educator for the Regional Anesthesia and Autofuser platform of products, communicating the clinical, patient and hospital benefits to physicians, nurses and members of materials management / value analysis.
•    Manage and support hospital clinical trials
•    Monitor and report regional competitor activity  
•    Develop and build Regional Key Opinion Leader (KOL) relationships (to include positions such as chiefs of anesthesiology, pain management and clinical staff members) working directly with Sales Directors and Regional Sales Managers along with marketing teams.
•    Support key trade fairs and congresses as necessary
•    Adhering to and ensuring the compliance of the Company's Code of Ethics, all Company policies which include but are not limited to the North America Contract Administration Policy and Procedures, North America Sales and Marketing Compliance Policy, the Health Care Provider Payment Tracking Policy and the North America Discount and Pricing Policy

Education / Experience Requirements

•    A bachelor’s degree is required, with 2-6 years’ sales experience.  Prior sales experience would ideally include medical device sales experience selling to hospital, surgical centers and clinics, with particular emphasis in regional anesthesia and/or pain management products.  
•    Clinically knowledgeable – with a history of utilizing basic anatomy and physiology as a major part of driving a sale forward
•    Experience in initiating and managing hospital clinical trials at all levels within the hospital 
•    Experienced in supporting/driving sales process bedside and/or within the sterile/clean field  
•    Complete computer systems and business software competency, including all current office tools such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and equivalent
•    Prior skills and/or core competencies for this position include:

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Demonstrated knowledge of basic Profit & Loss (P&L) principles 
•    Proven communication skills - able to communicate internally and externally, motivating people without the necessity of formal management/direct report authority as this position may not have direct reports
•    Proven and successful experience relative to driving the sales process throughout an entire hospital system
•    Proven experience of selling to Hospital Administration to include the "C Suite"
•    Proven experience in maximizing GPO/IDN related opportunities     
•    Managerial experience of indirect teams
•    Able to influence and collaborate teams without direct reporting relationship
