Position Summary
The Clinical Affairs Specialist, MCS, covers the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Intra-Aortic Balloon Catheter (IABC) product portfolio by fulfilling the educational needs of customers over the full spectrum of product adoption and utilization. This is in collaboration with the commercial team, including the Sales Representative/Clinical Sales Specialist. Activities include, but are not limited to, presentation and didactic program delivery, objection handling, and solution positioning that supports the safe and effective use of the MCS product portfolio.
Principal Responsibilities
• Identify and expand the customer base through professional networking, consultation related to best practices and the appropriate use of products, and timely professional follow-up.
• Maintain and develop expertise in the product portfolio.
• Work in conjunction with sales representatives and management to properly identify, prioritize targets, and achieve corporate, regional, and territory goals and objectives.
• Manage all business-associated administrative tasks and responsibilities to support job-related activities, including strict adherence to T&E travel and expense policies and procedures, timely filing of required and/or requested reports, and documentation of activities via approved documents and forms.
• Manage off-label inquiries and documentation.
• Keep current with medical literature, clinical initiatives/guidelines, competitive landscape, and industry trends and communicate with sales management, marketing, and other appropriate corporate departments.
• Lead and/or participate in educational, scientific, and promotional activities at identified local, regional, and national tradeshows/exhibitions.
• Provide written and verbal communication to management and sales representatives regarding field activity and account information.
• Collaborating with Marketing, Sales, and Engineering on key projects and initiatives, the Clinical Affairs Specialist utilizes critical thinking skills to collect data, analyze, and problem-solve, considering a variety of factors, exercising good judgment within defined policies, procedures, and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Maintain professional and clinical continuing education, licensure, and credentials as applicable for clinical specialty.
• Adhere to and ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and standards.
Education / Experience Requirements
• Registered Nurse (RN) or Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP)
• Minimum of five (5) years of cardiac clinical experience in a hospital, preferably in Critical Care, with experience managing IABPs.
• Previous experience as a Clinical Specialist in industry is desirable.
• Have current licensure and credentials, as applicable, for the clinical specialty.
• Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
• Proven ability to interact with different specialties within a hospital and deliver complex and technical subject matter to clinicians in the hospital or clinical setting.
• Self-directed, able to work independently and handle multiple projects concurrently to function in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving/analytical skills and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, professional communication, and compelling presentation skills.
• Ability to handle difficult conversations/situations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and computer technology including iPhone and iPad platforms.
• Ability to travel up to 75% of time, domestically or internationally.
• Ability to carry detail bag weighing up to 20 lbs. and lift equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to stand and/or walk in numerous hospitals or at meetings for 6 – 10 hours per day, up to five (5) days per week.
• Must be able to establish and maintain vendor credentials to have the ability to enter and work, as required, in hospitals as an essential function of the job.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: up to 75%
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $100,000- $125,000 however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will also include benefits such as medical, prescription drug, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, participation in 401(k) savings plan, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO, short- and long-term disability and parental leave, dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
