Position Summary

You are part of a high-energy team, whose singular focus is to drive front end of innovation (FEI) across business units (BU) enabling future global growth for Teleflex. 

The Qualitative Research Manager will serve as the lead researcher of the corporate FEI team, with content input from BU project teams, helping to drive research projects through all stages of FEI. They will lead all aspects of qualitative research including study design and tool development including semi-structured interviews and focus group guides.  They will also develop clear analytic plans to help drive growth objectives, as well as support BU team development via a ‘learning by doing’ approach.

You will work across businesses, regions, and functions, as required, to make an impact based on company innovation priorities.
 

Principal Responsibilities

•    Effectively lead qualitative research projects encompassing all facets from start to finish: design, moderating, analysis, report writing and presenting.
•    Play a leadership role on a cross-functional team; collaborate with the teams to seamlessly integrate qualitative insights with quantitative findings.
•    Develop innovative, qualitative research approaches, activities, and methodologies that will result in high-quality, impactful study results – in collaboration with the Business Units and Innovation teams.
•    Act as a point of contact with Business Units, actively build personal working relationships and support the overall Business Unit relationships both pre and post projects.
•    Manage all phases of the qualitative research process, including study design, discussion guide development, field/recruiting oversight, and report generation.
•    Act as the lead moderator/interviewer in the gathering of insights (predominantly in the healthcare space) through host of methodologies (in-person & virtual) including focus groups, in-depth 1:1’s, ethnography and boards.
•    Design or assist with the design of research questionnaires, screeners, discussion guides and other key research instruments to address research objectives.
•    Manage the recruitment process for all projects.
•    Leads analysis of results and develops engaging, insightful, creative, and customized deliverables and presents strategic recommendations that address our business questions.
•    Manage multiple projects in various stages of development, demonstrating a clear ability to oversee tasks across multiple concurrent research studies. 
•    Oversee vendor relationships for tasks or processes that are outsourced. Ensuring that research is implemented in an appropriate and cost-effective manner and that data is turned into useful and actionable information.
•    Manage all quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
•    Stays abreast of industry trends, seeks out and brings new techniques and willing to apply them to projects as appropriate
•    Coordination of project activities to ensure business and compliance needs are satisfied.
•    Adhere to and ensure the adherence of Teleflex Code of Ethics, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
•    Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
 

MANAGEMENT / SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
•    No immediate direct reports. May manage 1 or more employees in the future
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor's Degree (or higher) from an accredited university or college in a relevant major such as Medicine, Nursing, Design, Marketing, Journalism, Psychology, Sociology, etc.
•    Minimum of 5 years market research experience demonstrating strong familiarity with the executional elements of qualitative research techniques and methodologies - desk research and planning, screener development, recruitment management, analysis, report writing and presenting.
•    Minimum of 3 years’ experience moderating (virtual or in-person), both IDIs and groups (healthcare or pharma moderating experience a plus)
•    Demonstrated knowledge of multiple design research methods, inclusive of ethnography; remote research techniques, such as online qualitative research, customer journaling, and cultural probes; job mapping, Job to be Done methodology, customer journey mapping; design thinking ideation workshops; persona-based research; focus groups, co-creation sessions, are a must.
•    Be an excellent, experienced, and engaging interviewer. 
•    Previous project management experience; clear understanding of project set-up, recruiting, familiarity working with an expanded team i.e. agency, corporate, consultants, freelancers.
•    Adept at analysis and report-writing: True passion for understanding and explaining the WHY behind consumer drivers and attitudes
•    In-depth knowledge of qualitative data analysis software, such as NVivo, Atlas.ti, Provalis Research, MAXQDA etc. is a plus
•    Experience in coordinating and conducting global research for innovation programs is also a plus.
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with limited supervision
•    Skilled in Microsoft Office software environment
