Position Summary
Value Stream Supervisor position will customarily and regularly supervise, train, monitor, identify and assign work tasks, performance manage, and otherwise direct the work of all operators and/or technicians within the Assigned Value Stream while utilizing established documentation, tools, quality, and production concepts by established safety procedures to assist production operators and cell leads to process and construct finished and WIP product.
Principal Responsibilities
• Customarily and regularly direct the work of multiple employees, which can include managing timecards, conducting performance reviews and other performance management responsibilities, addressing personnel issues, complaints, and grievances, issuing warnings, and disciplinary items, when necessary, and providing suggestions and recommendations on other employee issues including firing, promotions, and advancements.
• Communicate safety guidelines and hold the production team accountable to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
• Work autonomously on projects with minimal supervision
• Oversee supervision of all operators and/or technicians in that Value Stream as well as provide instruction and standard work to cell leads/technicians, as well as managing and coordinating employee training to promote flexibility within the department.
• Work with the planning and materials department to keep the Assigned Value Stream running and identify material constraints
• Verify proper manufacturing documentation is in use. Including the most current document revision level
• Ensure all SOPs are followed to meet product specifications and Teleflex quality standards
• Assist applicable Value Stream Team/Manager to meet daily goals as defined by the Teleflex standards
• Gather information and report quality, process, equipment, materials, and employee problems or concerns to the members of the value stream, including engineers and techs
• When needed, assist the Value Stream operators and technicians to meet production goals
• Identify and champion continuous improvement efforts with the Engineering Team
• Work closely with support staff to enforce GDP and GMP
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
• Lead and support lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
• Collaborate with R&D/PD engineers on upcoming transfer projects and support improvements and staffing needs.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop and support catheters, balloons, and catheter subassemblies and processes according to customer design, performance, and quality specifications; on time and within budget.
• Review upcoming projects and open orders to provide recommendations on staffing needs to the trainer and VSM.
• Other duties as assigned
Education / Experience Requirements
• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED, Secondary education degree preferred
• A minimum of 1 year of regulated manufacturing environment experience, or equivalent, required
• A minimum of 3 years direct or indirect supervisory experience is, required and 1-year direct supervisory experience preferred
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing, GMP, FDA, and ISO, preferred
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
• Demonstrated success in supervising and directing employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to demonstrate team building, problem-solving, and leadership skills, required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, preferred.
• Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma practices and tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication
• Strong organizational skills
• Basic mathematics skills
• Ability to sit frequently, stand, walk, bend, and occasionally lift. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
