Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support Strategy and Transformation initiatives within our distribution center. This role is designed for an experienced engineering or project professional who can translate strategic objectives into scalable operational solutions through process design, technology implementation, business integration, operational readiness, and capital project execution.
Working collaboratively with Operations, Quality, IT, Engineering, Maintenance, Enterprise Excellence, and external partners, this position supports major initiatives including new product introductions, business integrations, facility and layout changes, warehouse systems enhancements, labor management capabilities, automation projects, and other step-change improvements that increase capacity, flexibility, service, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capability, project management discipline, systems thinking, and practical operational knowledge. This individual is comfortable moving between data analysis, warehouse observation, vendor engagement, business case development, cross-functional coordination, and project execution to help convert strategic ideas into successful operational outcomes.
This role serves as a key leadership pipeline position within Strategy & Transformation and offers the opportunity to influence the future direction of distribution center operations through major business, process, and technology initiatives.

Principal Responsibilities

1. New Product Introductions, Business Integration Support & Operational Readiness

• Support new product introductions, business integrations, process introductions, and strategic initiatives through planning, testing, documentation, and readiness activities.
• Partner with Operations, Quality, IT, Engineering, Maintenance, Enterprise Excellence, and other stakeholders to support successful implementation.
• Validate process readiness, system functionality, and operational requirements prior to implementation.
• Evaluate end-to-end warehouse processes to identify constraints, risks, and readiness gaps.
• Identify and mitigate operational, system, quality, capacity, and implementation risks before they impact execution.
• Support launch, integration, transition, and stabilization activities for major projects and business changes.


2. Process Visibility, Data Analysis & Decision Support

• Analyze operational data to identify trends, constraints, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Develop analytical tools and process documentation that support decision-making and implementation planning.
• Translate operational data into actionable insights, recommendations, and measurable business improvements.
• Develop reports that provide visibility to performance, capacity, service, quality, inventory, and project outcomes.
• Validate reporting accuracy and ensure performance metrics reflect actual operational performance.
• Support business case development and data-driven decision-making for strategic initiatives and capital investments.


3. Future-State Process Design & Operational Engineering

• Apply engineering principles, systems thinking, and structured problem-solving to evaluate current operations and design practical, scalable future-state solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Support major process redesign efforts related to technology implementation, business integrations, automation, capacity expansion, and facility modifications.
• Identify opportunities to improve flow, flexibility, capacity, efficiency, service, and overall performance.
• Lead smaller-scale investigations and contribute to larger cross-functional problem-solving efforts.
• Define success metrics, evaluate alternatives, and measure implementation results.

4. Systems, Technology, Capital Projects & Step-Change Improvement

• Support implementation of transformational technologies including warehouse labor management systems, Blue Yonder enhancements, SAP-related improvements, automation solutions, and other operational capabilities.
• Support implementation activities including requirements definition, testing, issue resolution, readiness planning, and capability development.
• Evaluate and support deployment of automation, material handling equipment, packaging technologies, storage solutions, and other operational technologies.
• Develop analyses, cost-benefit assessments, and business cases supporting capital investments and strategic projects.
• Manage assigned Capital Project Expense Authorization activities, supporting project justification, financial evaluation, and approval processes.
• Support vendor evaluation and selection for technologies, equipment, and services tied to strategic initiatives.
• Support facility, layout, equipment, and infrastructure changes associated with growth and transformation initiatives.

5. Cross-Functional Integration & Strategic Project Leadership

• Build strong working relationships across Operations, Quality, IT, Engineering, Maintenance, Enterprise Excellence, and external partners.
• Translate strategic objectives into executable project plans and operational solutions.
• Own assigned project workstreams and drive execution through implementation.
• Develop project plans, business cases, status updates, and implementation recommendations.
• Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority to drive alignment, execution, adoption, and sustainable results.
• Balance tactical operational support with long-term transformation, technology, integration, and capacity-building initiatives.
• Demonstrate ownership, urgency, accountability, and sound judgment.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Systems Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, Data Analytics, or related technical field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, project management, technology implementation, automation, business integration, or operational transformation roles.
• Experience leading or supporting cross-functional projects in an operational environment required.
• Experience within a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, aerospace, or other regulated environment preferred.
• Experience supporting technology implementations, business integrations, facility modifications, automation, operational readiness, capital projects, or process redesign preferred.
• Experience developing business cases, project justifications, cost-benefit analyses, vendor evaluations, and executive updates preferred.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills required; Excel required. Power BI, SQL, Snowflake, Tableau, Access, VBA, Python, or similar tools preferred.
• Experience with ERP and WMS platforms such as SAP, Blue Yonder, Manhattan, SAP EWM, Oracle WMS, or similar systems preferred.
