Position Summary

To provide support and be responsible for insuring that the importing and exporting activities of Teleflex Medical, within all business functions across all product and business units, comply with U.S. and International Trade Compliance laws and regulations.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Provide primary support and advice to Teleflex Medical personnel, serving as a subject matter expert for International Trade Compliance issues related to ensuring compliance with US Customs, BIS, OFAC and FTSR regulations. This includes the import and export of products, services, transfer of technical data, and all other import/export licensing and compliance matters. Assist International Trade Compliance Manager by creating, revising, refining, enhancing, and continually improving import and export management processes, with primary focus on facilitating trade while maintaining and/or improving compliance with trade Regulations, industry best practices, and corporate policy.
  2. Provide oversight to 3rd party providers, as needed, focusing on compliance with meeting agreed to service levels (e.g. customs brokers, etc.).
  3. Conduct internal and external compliance audits as required
  4. Act as back-up for International Trade Compliance Manager when requested.
  5. Perform other US Customs, BIS, OFAC and FTSR compliance related duties as required.
  6.  Attendance at Trade Compliance Conferences, CBP Seminars, Membership and active participation in Trade Associations encouraged.
  7. Train, monitor, motivate, coach and develop team-mates, in various International Trade Compliance matters, as required
  8. Act as Trade Compliance subject matter expert on multi-departmental global projects, ensuring the Trade Compliance regulations of all associated countries are adhered to, and that Trade Compliance deliverables are are met timely.
  9. Assist Trade Compliance manager with creation and management of the administration of the C-TPAT program where required.
  10. Determine Harmonized Classification for multiple countries, US ECCN, CoO labeling requirements, TAA and free trade eligibility for medical devices and sets
     

Education / Experience Requirements

•    U.S. Customs Broker (with minimum 5 years-experience) or
•    Bachelor’s Degree – Business Administration or International Business with 7 years direct experience working in an Import/Export Compliance position or
•    15 years of direct experience, working strictly in an import/export trade compliance role
•    Computer literate (Microsoft Office suite, SAP and Agile preferred)
•    Working knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Regulations, U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), and U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Export Control Regulations
•    Working knowledge of WCO platform and regulations of other countries a plus

5.    Strong Customs (19CFR), OFAC (31CFR), BIS/EAR and FTSR (15CFR) Knowledge base
6.    Must be goal oriented and a self starter
7.    Ability to communicate and operate effectively with multiple teams
8.    Internal and External Audit skills
9.    Ability to manage multiple tasks in order to meet/exceed deadlines in a remote setting
10.    Adept at shifting priorities, work with minimal supervision
11.    Proven problem resolution, critical thinking, and reasoning skills with ability to create or revise standard processes for long-term resolutions
12.    Ability to learn from and teach members of the team at all levels
