Position Summary

The position will manage all distribution functions of assigned departments at the Teleflex Medical North American Distribution Center (NADC). Operations could include the receipt, storage, inventory control, order processing and shipment of the medical products and accessories for all Teleflex Medical brands. Additionally, the manager is responsible for ensuring operations meets EHS guidelines, Quality/Regulatory policies and procedures and a continuous improvement culture. This position is an important people leader in the organization and is expected to demonstrate integrity, strong team building and people development skills. The Sr. Distribution Center Manager will work towards ensuring that Teleflex is always positioned as a key preferred supplier within the medical devices space.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Using the appropriate Teleflex People Management tools and systems, ensure that staff are fully engaged and equipped to make a positive contribution to the company and others in the organization and grow in order to achieve their full potential.
•    Implements and executes Distribution and Logistics strategy to ensure Teleflex Medical can meet its long-term strategic business and customer goals.
•    Maintains compliance with company policies, safety standards, good housekeeping practices, and EHS, ISO, OSHA, and other governmental regulations.
•    Organizes, manages and coordinates daily operations through the management team for service and operational efficiencies.  
•    Plans daily activities and coordinates Management efforts to attain service and performance commitments for accurate and on-time product receipt, storage, and delivery.
•    Maintains workload allowances. Oversees and contributes to continuous operational business process improvements. Identifies and reports all issues with warehouse management systems and reporting.
•    Exercises cost controls for labor, shipping activities, and contracts.
•    Initiates and responds to requests for action on carrier concerns, freight claims, systems problems, order status, parts availability, packaging, parts rejects, and export shipments as they relate to the NADC DC operations.
•    Supervises periodic reporting on operations, storage, staffing and labor, receipts, and maintenance.
•    Optimizes profit by reducing costs through continuous improvement activities and achieving commitments/targets for each functional area. Seeks out feedback form other stakeholders to improve their operations and drives value.
•    Drives continuous improvement through employee involvement, distribution center engineering practices, and focused leadership.  Utilizes other resources and stakeholders to drive improvements.  
•    Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the organization in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
•    Develops knowledge bases on processing technologies relevant to the needs.
•    Participate in executive level forums and strategy sessions that guide the development of people, programs and technology.
•    Interact with internal personnel to resolve customer complaints and questions.
•    Performs other related duties and projects as assigned. 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, logistics, or operations or equivalent industry experience. 
•    At least 10 year experience managing in a large scale distribution center or equivalent manufacturing enviorenment with at least 5 years directly supervising and leading exempt and hourly employees.
•    Medical device industry experence preferred. 
•    Manage, direct, and oversee the day to day operations of a fast paced medical device distribution center.  Focus is customer centric, people oriented, and stakeholder driven. 
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative solutions and meeting project objectives are required. 
•    Strong business acumen and a strong track record of managing in a metric driven organization.
•    Understanding of business system, distribution and logistics engineering principles, and business drivers in the L&D area.
•    Strong People Management & development skills required
•    Analytical skills, leadership skills, and project management skills
•    Knowledge of SAP WM system would be an advantage
•    Experience in workflow process & systems development required.
•    System oriented and ability to develop a working knowledge of the mechanics of technologies and processes within his/her organization.
•    Proven ability to successfully drive change management projects at both organizational and operational levels required

•    Skills that enable collaboration and communication, including MS-Office (primarily PowerPoint, Word, MD Project, Outlook and Excel); 
•    Excellent analytical ability
