Position Summary

This position will provide engineering support to the AEM R&D and Sustaining Engineering groups. Key activities include assisting in development, design, validation, optimization and maintenance of test methods, work instructions, and test equipment. The candidate will also define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret product testing. This individual must be an effective communicator. The ideal candidate would possess strong analytical/problem solving skills, background in engineering principles and objective thinking, and an awareness of medical device products and medical device regulations.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Act as preventive maintenance (PM) designee for the Morrisville site:
o    Coordinate and perform or review perform the preventive maintenance program deliverables for all applicable equipment in the product evaluation laboratory.
o    Review the preventive maintenance program deliverables for all applicable equipment in other locations (packaging, complaints, etc.) within the Morrisville site.
•    Utilize software to convert 3D scan files from CT scanner to solid CAD models. Analyze and compare models for dimensional differences and conformance to current dimensional specifications.
•    Generate engineering documentation to support various products. This includes the ability to generate protocols, reports, test procedures, and work instructions for equipment operation, test method validations (TMV), and Verification and Validation activities.
•    Utilize and become highly proficient in the operation of lab equipment and fixturing to perform product testing and develop new test methods from concept to realization.
•    Continuously improve test methods, data collection methods, forms, process standardization, etc.
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Related Discipline
 
•    Minimum 2 years of experience in product development and testing
•    Objective critical thinker
•    Fluent in SAP/Agile systems.
•    Proficient in Word and Excel
•    Intermediate electronics and electromechanical aptitude
•    Basic Solidworks capabilities preferred (3D part/assembly modelling and 2D drawings)
•    Basic statistics, Minitab/Matlab
•    Basic knowledge of prototyping, 3D printing, and machine shop capabilities
•    Ability to simultaneously follow directives and independently evaluate situations and processes for improvement opportunities
•    Good Verbal and Written Communication - technical writing, executive summaries, etc.
•    Collaboration skills to interface with SME’s, vendors and other BU’s, etc.
•    Understanding of GMP / FDA / ISO work environment
•    Understanding of ISO and ASTM testing methods for medical devices
•    Understanding of the Design Control Process
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Assist when needed with 3D model printing, parts post processing, and equipment care and cleaning.
•    Assist when needed with audit preparation and support during internal and external PE lab audits.
•    This position may require direct contact and handling of animal tissue.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
