Position Summary

You are part of a high energy team, whose singular focus is to drive innovation across business units enabling future global growth for Teleflex. The Sr. Global Strategic Innovation Manager drives front end of innovation by formalizing a consistent strategic approach to build and implement needs-driven innovation. 

Initial emphasis will be on accelerating the front end of the innovation pipeline, coach innovation teams on design thinking/ bio design processes, lead customer insight generation, and collaborate closely with technology teams on idea generation. Establishes key analysis and insights to support the development of strategic priorities for the company by working in conjunction with organizational leaders, senior leadership to shape and prioritize their innovation objectives.

In conjunction with manager, the Sr. Global Strategic Innovation Manager provides innovation portfolio management for existing key product franchises and for future growth drivers for Teleflex. 
 

Principal Responsibilities

•    Formalizes a consistent strategic framework, approach, methods and tools for front end of innovation through which all ideas and opportunities are evaluated.
•    Supports the creation and management of global Innovation portfolio roadmap for Teleflex.
•    Refine, develop and manage initiatives/projects within the Innovation portfolio.
•    Continually seek out and assess growth opportunities, including possible acquisitions.
•    Serve as a key contributor to the corporate strategic planning process.
•    Collaborates with innovation teams to produce metrics to track innovation investments versus expected revenue.
•    Determines success metrics for innovation projects in the pipeline and provides guidance to the innovation teams on the go/no-go decisions.
•    Conducts financial modeling and forecasting to support the development of business cases in the innovation portfolio. 
•    Serve as the upstream/strategic marketing lead - identify market opportunities/sizing/risks, collect and interpret voice of customer (VOC), understand adoption barriers to new technologies, analyze competitive landscape, determine clear clinical desirability, and commercial viability for these opportunities.
•    Leads the identification, understanding and evaluation of potential opportunities and emerging trends.
•    Facilitates the process through workshops to collect and prioritize clinical unmet needs.
•    Maintain extensive knowledge of competitive offerings and strategies.
•    Understand, analyze and prioritize deep customer insights through primary and secondary market research
•    Coordinate innovation planning strategy efforts with business units and with enterprise leadership.
•    Collaborates with cross functional business partners to collect and review new product ideas.
•    Collaborate with R&D, Clinical Medical Affairs, Project Management Office and other key stakeholders within each of the business units.
•    Implement cadence of communication with business unit leadership to ensure understanding of innovation product pipeline, its value and project progress.
•    Develop and manage clinical access partnership for unmet need discovery.
•    Establish strong KOL partnerships to ensure robust understanding of customer unmet needs to establish differentiated value propositions, deeper customer segmentation and buying criteria and needs.
•    Develop and maintain annual operation plan and budget for assigned innovation portfolio initiatives.
•    Adhere to and ensure the adherence of Teleflex Code of Ethics, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Four (4) year university degree required
•    Advanced degrees and certifications, preferred
•    5+ years’ experience in upstream strategic marketing and new product development in medical device industry
•    Global experience with the ability to interact with international markets
•    Prior experience with strategy planning process, preferred
•    Prior experience with bio design and design thinking processes, preferred

MANAGEMENT / SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
•    No immediate direct reports. May manage 1 or more employees in the future.

•    Strong business acumen and analytical skills with relevant experience developing and accessing complex business models and diverse data sources.
•    Customer-focused : Deep consumer understanding and curiosity with an insight-led approach to innovation.
•    A strong foundation regarding marketing research theories and approaches
•    Sensitive to global differences in market needs and clinical practice patterns.
•    Demonstrate practical application of successful marketing/business/portfolio management concepts and methodologies, as well as assessment tools, practices and techniques.
•    A sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability
•    Strong ability to use primary and secondary data sources to build a story with data
•    High level understanding of global medical regulatory landscape and awareness of geographical differences.
•    Ability to work with colleagues to drive consensus on product portfolio decisions across global geographies
•    Ability to present his/her “case” in both formal presentations and in one-on-one interactions. Strong formal and informal communication skills.
•    Self-starter, know how to approach the job, passionate about the industry. 
•    Knowledge of measurement and analysis of commercial effectiveness.
•    Unquestionable ethics and integrity.
•    Excellent relationship building and collaborative skills.

•    Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%
