Position Summary

This position will provide testing support to the Surgical R&D Testing group and other cross-functional engineering and product development teams. Key activities include defining, documenting, analyzing, performing and interpreting tests for various surgical medical devices. The candidate will also assist in development, validation, optimization and maintenance of test methods and work instructions. 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Generate engineering documentation in order to support various products. This includes the ability to generate protocols and reports, test procedures/work instructions, test method validations (TMV), Verification and Validation activities, and work with cross-functional team members to establish and maintain Design History Files (DHF).
  • Execute feasibility testing and design verification testing 
  • Data collection and GDP
  • Perform testing to support root cause investigations 
  • Utilize and become highly proficient in the operation of lab equipment (Keyence Microscope, Instron, SEM, CT) to perform product testing and analysis
  • Manage inventory of test equipment, supplies, and samples
  • Continuously improve test methods, data collection methods, forms, process standardization, etc.
  • Interface with Agile for document control (document release, revisions, etc.)
  • This position requires direct contact with an implantable device     
  • This position requires direct contact and handling of animal tissue
     

Education / Experience Requirements

  • 1.    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Related Discipline  
  • 2.    0-2 years of experience in product development and testing 
     

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

  • Objective critical thinker with flexible and open-minded approach
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Basic Solidworks capabilities, especially 2D drawings suitable for fabrication
  • Basic statistics, Minitab/Matlab 
  • Ability to simultaneously follow directives and independently evaluate situations
  • Good Verbal and Written Communication - technical writing, executive summaries, etc.
  • Collaboration skills to interface with SME’s, vendors and other BU’s, etc.
  • Prefer understanding of GMP / FDA / ISO work environment
  • Prefer understanding of ISO and ASTM testing methods for medical devices
  • Prefer understanding of the Design Control Process
