Position Summary
The Project Engineer will lead and coordinate all technical phases of product development, evaluation and manufacturing aspects of various engineering projects using Arrow's design control and Product-to-Market Processes. The primary responsibility of this role will be supporting the Arrow Select Kits (ASK) team in executing various product development projects.
Principal Responsibilities
• Lead product development projects from concept to commercialization. This will include working with marketing, quality assurance, regulatory, clinical, and operations to define the product configuration and implement into production. Types of projects include product line extensions, new component qualifications, custom kit development, and new product development in support of various business units across Teleflex.
• Support new component qualifications by implementing products into manufacturing; includes developing and implementing processes, equipment and manufacturing capabilities.
• Identify and create new design and/or process concepts. Design and validate products and components using engineering principles and adhering to the design control process as appropriate.
• Lead the redesign of existing components to improve quality, utilize automated production techniques, optimize process capabilities, and produce better products in a more cost-effective manner.
• Support Manufacturing by improving existing products or processes. Interface with marketing, clinicians, and customers as necessary to solve problems and complete projects.
• Perform the verification and validation activities for new and existing products and components.
• Interface with purchasing and marketing to develop vendor supply agreements for components and/or new products.
• Lead project team members to execute deliverables to meet project objectives, milestones and target dates.
• Lead, conduct and/or participate in design and technical phase reviews.
• Keep track of project progress and report out the status of each project to internal stakeholders on an as required basis by supervisor.
• Serve as a mentor for engineering personnel on clinician interaction, product design development, verification/validation testing, documentation, and manufacturing related processes.
• As needed, support investigation of product complaints to determine cause and implement corrective action.
• Adhere to and ensure compliance of Teleflex’s Code of Ethics, all Company policies, rules, procedures and housekeeping standards.
Education / Experience Requirements
• BS in Engineering
• 3-5 years of work experience in R&D within the medical device industry
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
• Experience in product design, machine design, manufacturing processes
• Engineering experience within the medical device industry following a robust design control process (ISO standard, GMP, etc)
• Experience in Product Lifecycle Management software (Agile, Arena, etc)
• SolidWorks and/or CAD experience a plus
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Team player with good interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computerized analysis applications
