Position Summary

Maintain and establish supplier partnerships for Surgical Instrumentation. Procures instruments as suggested through ERP system data to achieve Business unit objectives of requisite quality, optimum price and delivery, with minimal inventory investment.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Evaluates and executes MRP data for optimal procurement ensuring inventory levels that meet required service levels.
•    Performs actual procurement function to include faxing, phoning, mail, electronic transmission (EDI), or e-mailing of purchase orders.
•    Maintains continual supplier contact to ensure delivery commitments are kept.
•    Promotes the Supplier Managed Inventory concept and provides suppliers with the data to manage inventories according to Teleflex established target levels.
•    Troubleshoots and expedites any discrepancy relating to purchase orders, deliveries, pricing, and quality.
•    Participates in MRB to resolve NCMRs, SCARs, and CAPAs.
•    Investigates and evaluates new sources of supply to meet Market demands.
•    Supports quality and cost savings initiatives.
•    Plans and prepares formal request for quote packages for instruments.  Evaluates RFQs received back with Manager, for awarding business.
•    Brings a creative approach to Supplier Partnerships to optimize resources on both ends while eliminating non-value added activities.
•    Achieves Departmental and Business Unit objectives and supports Global purchasing strategies.
•    Participates in contract as well as price negotiations with Manager.
•    Create and maintain SOPs as required.
•    Maintain item and vendor master parameters in ERP system to minimize excess inventory and backorders through regular review of historical and actual data, available forecasts and discussions with Sales, Marketing, Demand Planning, and Distribution.
•    Provide system-generated reports and spread sheet analyses as required to support the business.
•    Evaluates ERP system for enhancements, working directly with Manager for possible implementation.
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related discipline from a four-year college or university.
•    3-5 years in Purchasing, Materials Management, Supply Chain or equivalent experience.
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Thorough knowledge of ERP including inter-functional relationships, purchasing techniques and laws.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong skills in, oral and written communication.
•    Self-motivated, customer focused, results oriented, and bottom line driven.
•    Experience in Reusable Instrument purchasing and blueprint reading preferred.
•    CPIM and/or CPM certification preferred.
•    SAP and APO experience preferred.
•    Comprehensive understanding of MS Office suite.
•    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently.
•    Strong analytical skills.
