Position Summary
This is an entry-level engineering position that will support the new product development engineering group for the Airway Management product family. Assignments may also include work for other products within the Teleflex AEM portfolio. Medical device experience is preferred. Incumbent organizes and manages multiple projects and executes them in a timely manner. Assignments will focus on providing creative solutions to new products or existing product improvements as needs arise. Performs other duties as required or assigned
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Incumbent at this level executes on the scope of assignments by planning, designing, and coordinating the development of engineering activities to support new product development and changes/ improvements to existing products lines. These projects can exist anywhere from early concept stage through to manufacturing transfer and scale-up. Incumbent at this level receives instruction and assistance as needed and is aware of the work unit's operating procedures and policies.
Principal Responsibilities
• Assists with the development of Design History Files
• Reviews existing product lines and provides technical writing support.
• Prepares protocols and coordinates execution for the design verification of various medical devices and components.
• Gathers data on current products to support marketing, engineering, and regulatory requests.
• Supports multiple projects and ensures they are completed in a timely manner.
• Responsible for formal project management and related project documentation for projects.
• Helps generate design ideas for new products and solutions to existing products when modifications are requested.
• Assists other team members in updating and maintaining risk documentation to conform to current standards.
• Supports sustaining engineering efforts for the Manufacturing plants as applicable. Teleflex is a Global organization with manufacturing facilities in the US, Mexico, Czech Republic, Malaysia, India, and Germany.
• Ability to travel to international locations is required.
• Demonstrates professional responsibility by cooperating with other personnel to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Marginal Functions:
• Enhances growth and development through participation in education programs, training meetings and workshops, and remaining apprised of current literature.
• Participates actively in continuous quality improvement activities through compliance with safety standards.
• Maintains compliance with principles of accepted employee conduct as identified in the Teleflex employee handbook and as specified in departmental policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education / Experience Requirements
• Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering.
• One year of medical device or other related design experience
• Experience in SolidWorks CADD (design/drafting) program.
• Microsoft Office Suite, (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Background with injection molding, plastic extrusion and plastic part assembly process and methods desired.
• U.S. FDA GMP and ISO requirements for the design, validation, manufacturing processes, secondary operations and assembly of medical components and devices preferred.
• ISO and ASTM testing methods for medical devices and general plastic components preferred.
• An understanding of regulations pertaining to medical device design and design modifications preferred.
