Interventional - The Interventional business unit at Teleflex offers innovative medical devices that are used to diagnose and treat coronary and peripheral vascular diseases. We place a strategic emphasis on complex coronary and peripheral interventions, vascular access, bone access, specialty biologic treatments and cardiac assist. Our current Interventional products include a broad range of clinically relevant solutions, such as our GuideLiner® and Turnpike® Catheters, AC3 Optimus™ Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump and OnControl® Powered Bone Access System. Position Summary
This is a 12-week, paid, on-site full-time (M-F) summer internship in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This role is open to all Engineering majors across all grades. The intern is responsible for completing tasks and projects as assigned by engineering. The goal is to introduce the intern to the professional world while still completing value added tasks.
Principal Responsibilities
• Work on value added engineering projects.
o Example: Design a fixture to make a process more consistent. Use Solidworks to model the fixture and have a prototype created (3D Print, CNC Mill, etc.).
o Example: Create DOEs (Design of Experiments) to determine how physical properties (tensile strength, kink resistance, torque) are changed by altering materials.
o Example: Evaluate a SIC (Supplier Initiated Change) to a commercialized product by assessing impact to product sterility, biocompatibility, and performance.
• Participate in team meetings, project meetings, and town halls.
• Follow quality procedures and understands the Teleflex documentation system during the manufacturing and development process.
• Provide R&D support for verification, qualification, and validation studies on existing products.
• Assists with problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Collect, process, and analyze data.
• Assess proposed design and process changes for the impact to the product.
• Support multiple projects with competing priorities, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Support cost improvement activities and non-conformance investigations.
• Utilize engineering acumen to identify and promote improvement activities across the organization
• Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in an Engineering Bachelor’s degree program.
• Open to lower and upperclassmen.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and ask questions.
• Ability to collaborate with others.
• Ability to problem solve and work independently.
