Position Summary
This role is specific to Teleflex Medical OEM and the Performance Fiber business segment. Performance Fibers is a leading provider of specialized suture and fiber-based components, contract manufactured products, and finished medical devices in the orthopaedic, structural heart, and other high growth markets. The Performance Fiber Sales Manager is responsible for generating new business and maintaining existing accounts with an emphasis on technical selling and relationship building. Additional focus should include; Developing account-based strategies for Strategic Accounts, representing the commercial team as the liaison between Sales and the Performance Fibers Engineering and Operations team(s), influencing new product development concepts as the voice of the customer, and overachieving sales targets by indirectly leading the sales team in their efforts.
Principal Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Growth
• Drive customer sales and profit initiatives to achieve assigned revenue and business goals.
• Identify and pursue new sales opportunities while managing and growing existing accounts.
• Evaluate territory performance against objectives (sales forecast, budget, new accounts) and implement corrective actions.
Strategic Account Management
• Develop and execute strategic sales plans in collaboration with TSEs (Technical Sales Engineers), CAMs (Corporate Account Managers) and Marketing to penetrate key accounts.
• Build and maintain senior-level relationships within OEM strategic customer base.
• Facilitate OEM contract negotiations (terms, conditions, volumes, pricing) with Corporate Accounts teams.
• Communicate pricing proposals aligned with company guidelines and market trends.
Customer Engagement & Communication
• Conduct internal and external business reviews to ensure proactive customer communication.
• Meet with OEM customers to present Teleflex Medical OEM’s design and production capabilities.
• Ensure customer specifications and requirements are accurately transferred to internal systems.
Project & Product Development Support
• Partner with R&D and technical teams to define new product opportunities and support key projects to reduce time-to-commercialization.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Operations, QA/RA, Finance, and senior management.
Market Intelligence & Planning
• Monitor customer publications, announcements, and market trends; provide insights and recommendations for growth (e.g., acquisitions, new strategies, product development).
• Participate in operating plan activities including budgeting, forecasting, and profit planning.
• Assess business potential of current and new customers.
Training & Leadership
• Lead sales and capabilities training for new hires in Mansfield.
• Train TSEs on selling EPIC and engage potential EPIC customers to increase paid visits.
• Train TSEs on selling existing and new capabilities within the Performance Fiber platform.
Reporting & Compliance
• Prepare timely weekly/monthly reports and special updates for business and product planning.
• Manage expenses within budget and company policy.
• Adhere to and ensure the compliance of Teleflex’s Code of Ethics, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Business Development Activities
• Attend trade shows, consult industry directories, and travel as needed to develop new and existing OEM customer leads.
Education / Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree required. Prefer in Business, Engineering or Life Sciences
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in selling environments for technical and/or medical products
• Preference for familiarity with absorbable & non-absorbable sutures, surgical needles, Fibers & constructs, polymers.
• Experience in sales of medical devices, CDMO or OEM medical device products is required
• A solid understanding of the medical device industry and in particular orthopaedics and sports medicine, cardiovascular and structural heart, industry requirement. OEM business is preferred.
• General understanding of the medical device product development process along with the potential quality requirements.
• A demonstrated track record for meeting sales objectives in a technology company, year over year results
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
• Preference for location in Northeast US and/or requirement to visit Mansfield facility monthly.
• Strong project management skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, Microsoft Project etc.
• High degree of initiative and business acumen
• Ability to think and plan strategically, for both short term and long-term outcomes
• Superior organizational, time management and multi-tasing skills
• Strong attention to detail and deadlines
• Strong follow-up skills
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of people with varying backgrounds, education and experience.
• Travel required 50%
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $160k-$220k, (inclusive of commissions) however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Commissions will also vary depending on individual performance. The total compensation package for this position will also include benefits such as medical, prescription drug, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, participation in 401(k) savings plan, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO, short- and long-term disability and parental leave, dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
