Position Summary

The EPIC Center Engineering Manager reports to the Director, Engineering & Manufacturing, Performance Fibers.  This role serves as the lead for the EPIC Center located in Mansfield,MA and will manage all aspects of the customer interface related to the EPIC Center activities and experiences. The EPIC Engineering Manager leads departmental and cross-functional teams with a focus on delivering products, services and new technologies to OEM customers. This role involves extensive interaction with customers, sales, engineering and other cross-functional teams in order to meet business goals and objectives.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Coach, develop, manage and motivate staff to ensure that employees achieve their full potential
•    In conjunction with the Director of Engineering & Manufacturing, develop and cascade departmental long term and short term business objectives, in line with business needs
•    Lead by example in ensuring that all elements of projects and customer meetings are delivered to a high standard within the Engineering team 
•    Establish leadership rapport with customers to create an onsite experience that parallels or surpasses their product capability expectations
•    Represent Teleflex in customer and supplier interactions in a professional, constructive and commercially aware manner 
•    Ensure customer expectations are managed & met in all areas of business interaction
•    Lead, train and organize Teleflex Medical OEM staff in facilitating concept development EPIC visits
•    Maintain and develop the skills and tools required to constantly evolve the EPIC concept approach within Teleflex Medical OEM
•    Work closely with sales, as needed, to manage visit preparatory activities: validate active NDA’s are intact, request customer required information, schedule EPIC, prepare agendas, create agreed upon check points to ensure activities are on track, understand unique needs of each customer visit, ensure unique needs will be met during the visit 
•    Manage post visit activities: send out meeting minutes, clearly call out follow up action items/ownership/timelines, establish/meet with department team members to create accountability on action items, communicate appropriately across the organization on visit experience and expectations  
•    Develop succession plans that support employee retainment, growth, and overall business growth.
•    Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of engineering operations, including provision for and selection of employees, counseling and motivation, meeting organization, establishment of goals and objectives, as well as planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the EPIC engineering group
•    Maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities
•    Report out on key projects utilizing the Vision software

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Minimum of a BS degree in engineering, business administration/management, physical sciences or related field is required
•    Minimum of 5 years experience directly interfacing with customers
•    Minimum of 8 years managing complex customer development projects in an OEM market required 
•    Medical device experience preferred
•    A minimum of 3 years experience leading a team with a proven track record of delivering high-value projects on schedule and on budget
•    Ability to coach and mentor others including directly mentoring the efforts of senior engineers and engineers
•    Demonstrated track record for meeting objectives in a technology company required
•    Must be knowledgeable in many aspects of medical device design, development, engineering and production  
•    OEM supplier experience is preferred
•    Must demonstrate knowledge of medical device product use and applications 
•    A background and working knowledge of cGMPs, lean manufacturing principles and process monitoring tools is critical  
•    A proven track record of leading change and assisting in building and developing a team focused on process excellence and continuous improvement is vital 
•    Experience in effective goal setting and accountability to results

•    Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a broad spectrum of people having varying backgrounds, education, and experience 
•    Strong Project Management skills, including the ability to influence teams to meet objectives without direct reporting relationships 
•    Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project) 
•    Must have a high degree of initiative and a high ability to multi-task
•    Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to work independently
•    Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross functional team environment
•    High level of organization, attention to detail and accuracy
•    Ability to support and prioritize projects and adapt to shifting priorities
•    Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
