Position Summary

Full-time internship during the summer (May-August 2024), to be based in Mansfield, MA with the potential to continue support part-time through the school year. Supports EPIC (Engineering, Prototyping, Innovation, and Collaboration) Center in the design and development of innovation technical solutions for customers using sutures and fiber technology in medical devices or components. Works closely with EPIC manager to understand critical characteristics/ specifications, manufacturing processes, and support sample testing. Uses lab equipment (e.g., tensile testers, inspection equipment, drop gauges, etc.) as required. Test suture materials, braids, and constructs in accordance with site procedures using USP test methods and reporting on results. 

Principal Responsibilities

•    Assists in writing User Needs and performing testing protocols and reports for EPIC projects
•    Assists in the analysis of test data and documentation of key results
•    Supports EPIC customer communications and project tracking
•    Writes test methods as needed under guidance from EPIC Development Engineers
•    Assists with EPIC customer requests for quotes (RFQs)
•    Assists with the completion and tracking of EPIC tasks and project deliverables
•    Assists in collecting data and creating documentation for EPIC project deliverables
•    Supports administrative tasks related to EPIC projects and activities 
•    Able to use critical thinking concepts
•    Maintains a cooperative and motivational attitude with co-workers and EPIC customers
•    Ability to provide clear and concise written reports to EPIC manager and to keep them abreast of activities and results
•    Ability to read, understand, and apply procedures according to established guidelines  
•    Capture requirements, review processes, and propose areas for improvement 
•    Interfaces with a variety of internal and external EPIC customers including R&D, Manufacturing, QA, and Regulatory 
•    Completes work in compliance with GMP and ISO regulations and within Teleflex safety guidelines

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Highschool graduate currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science related field 
•    Previous experience with working in a laboratory environment preferred
•    Familiar with GMP and medical experience preferred

•    Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word & Excel required

•    Basic statistics knowledge preferred
