Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall Materials management function across to manufacturing locations. You will have the opportunity to create dynamic unit sales forecasts using a combination of statistical, qualitative data, and current open orders using Demand Solutions. Responsible to take actual sales rates and compare against the budget to determine variances by product line and individual product code.  Consult with Sales, Customer Service, and Customers to determine whether sales rates are realistic hence dictating a need for a forecast adjustment.
Work directly with Sales, Operations, and Distribution to achieve build plans at each manufacturing facility to meet customer orders.  Generate a weekly demand report which includes all open sales orders, current on-hand inventories, and in-transit inventories, creating a build plan, a summary of net requirements to be put into each manufacturing site's master schedule.  The demand report will also be the input into short, long term, and rough-cut capacity planning.  The responsibility of managing demand and the generation of the master schedule by each manufacturing facility is a critical role.
Monitor progress of the schedule and advise appropriate personnel of needed changes, investigate and resolve system problems impacting scheduling, and communicate priority on potential backorders. This position will be the central point of contact for customer service, sales, and operations on supply chain issues.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Executing monthly forecasting cycle with the use of Demand Solutions software. Monitoring the baseline forecast against orders and customers. Monitor forecast accuracy per customer/code.
•    Conducting monthly forecast meetings with the appropriate Sales Teams. Provide guidance and assistance in understanding trends and potential future impact.
•    Work with top customers to understand customers’ inventory levels, forecasts, special production requirements, including experience with EDI, customer KanBan and customer-specific VMI tools.
•    Manage a structured Demand Planning & Sales Forecasting process that increased forecast accuracy, increased service levels, and disseminated information in a timely manner. Ensure the Demand Solution forecast is accurately downloaded on a monthly basis. 
•    Closely monitor BO and On-time delivery matrix and publish both matrixes in timely manner. Work with manufacturing plants to work on recovery plan to mitigate BO.  Communicate to management, sales, and customer care and upload recovery delivery report on a weekly basis.
•    Provide analytical support to Marketing and Sales, Finance, upper management as required i.e. Gap Analysis, Open order report, Monthly sales forecast projections
•    Set appropriate Master data including safety stocks, lead times, lot sizes, and other Master Data parameters used with MRP to manage demand, scheduling etc.
•    Worke closely with R&D team in new product launches and developing phase-in and phase-out plans.
•    Participate in system/process improvements, reporting activities 
•    Make recommendations when to move product to KanBan pull system versus demand planning system.
•    Follow up with Quality in manufacturing and distribution centers to expedite quality inspection and sterility release to ensure quick response in shipping customer orders.
•    Provide distribution center personnel with sales order files requiring shipment to meet monthly financial targets.
•    Offer direction to Buyer / Planner in responding to requests from Sales Managers and Customer Care for order status reports, expedites, demand > forecast, etc. as required.
•    Compile weekly Backorder analysis for top customers identifying root cause, vendor, and recovery dates for Sales Operations.
•    Advise Customer Care when inventory is “on hand” and available to ship to customer as a pro-active measure to improve on-time delivery and reduce backorders.
•    Perform forensic review in SAP when issues have been identified with Material Master set-ups or APO (Available-to-Promise) system and resolve ASAP to minimize impact to customer orders.
•    Implement Kanban pull system for customers entering into a contractual agreement for the program.
•    Advise Sales Managers and Customer Care of component shortages impacting on-time delivery for customer orders.
•    Provide information to Project Engineers for customers whose material is involved in changes to components, IFUs, labeling, or rev. levels to plan completion date of projects with assistance from manufacturing.
•    Support and guide the materials team using appropriate communication, performance management tools, leading by example, and planning staffing needs.

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor’s Degree required. Focus in Business, Operations Management, or Supply Chain Management strongly preferred.
•    Minimum of 5 years experience in demand planning and or supply chain planning across multiple manufacturing facilities. Experience in medical device or related field preferred.
•    Previous experience supervising/directing the work of others, strongly preferred.
•    Must possess advanced Excel skills and knowledge
•    Hands-on practical experience working with SAP is preferred 
•    Experience creating complex statistical and financial analyses and reports using Excel
•    Experience defining, implementing, and testing SAP system enhancements to increase productivity and improve the forecasting/demand management process
•    Experience implementing supply chain improvement initiatives such as customer-specific forecasting, collaborative planning, and sales and operations planning
•    Experience forecasting in a global high volume repetitive manufacturing environment with customers in several trade channels
