Position Summary

Lead and/or direct higher level engineering efforts across a range of areas including:

•    Plan, research and actively contribute to the site strategic direction in terms of capability development and strategic partnerships and alliances.
•    Develop and improve products, services and new technologies in order to make Teleflex Medical OEM a more effective competitor in the OEM Medical Device market.
•    Taking ownership for the development and implementation of key core technology areas.
•    Improve manufacturing capability, processes, equipment and systems in line with site strategic priorities.
•    Actively seek avenues to grow the business by developing and executing New Product developments
•    Collaborate with other Value streams and customers to scale up new products.
•    Take ownership of driving cost improvement efforts within the Value Stream to meet site targets.
•    Collaborate with Quality and Operations functions within the Value Stream to drive execution on customer commitments.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Coach, develop, manage and motivate staff to ensure that employees achieve their full potential.
•    In conjunction with the Site Engineering Manager, develop and cascade Value Stream long term and short-term business objectives, in line with business needs.
•    In conjunction with the Site Engineering Manager, establish and maintain high technical standards within the location and hold the Engineering group accountable for maintaining these standards.
•    Lead by example in ensuring that all elements of projects and process improvements are delivered to a high standard within the Engineering team – this includes documentation, reviews, testing, change-review, training, line support, etc.  
•    In line with the company Core Values, lead & conduct open and in-depth project reviews with a focus on learning points.
•    Delegate and coordinate work within areas of ownership. Measure and manage team performance as required.
•    Lead, train and organise Teleflex Medical OEM staff in facilitating new product developments and scale-up under the Routes approach and TSOP 10-051.
•    Represent Teleflex in customer and supplier interactions in a professional, constructive and commercially aware manner. 
•    Ensure customer expectations are managed & met in all areas of business interaction.
•    Generate and maintain quality documentation, work instructions in accordance with compliance with relevant standards, ISO 13485, F.D.A, G.M.P. for medical devices, and environmental health and safety.
•    Take total ownership for area of responsibility. This can be interpreted as taking a proactive approach to improvement and anticipating, recognizing, and dealing with problems before they become major issues. 
•    Lead the Engineering team within Value Stream on new process development or process improvement projects to achieve the required standard in cost management, quality assurance, health and safety assurance, productivity and sales growth.
•    Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
•    Ensure Quality and EHS policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Educated to a degree level in a relevant discipline.
•    Solid engineering skill set backed by deep experience (min 10 years engineering experience in a variety of roles)
•    Planning and Organisation & Project management
•    Statistical analysis
•    Structured Problem Solving techniques
•    Understanding of Lean Principles
•    Understanding of new product introduction process
•    Understanding of Design Control and the specific outputs at each phase
•    Technical report writing 
•    Process validations/FMEA's and protocols
•    Understanding of Health & Safety - Machine safety, basic Ergonomics, electrical safety, Chemical safety 
•    Ability to influence employees that do not report directly
•    Understanding of costs management & control
•    Understanding of Finance - Profit and loss and balance sheet
•    Understand of employment law, natural justice and appreciation of fairness
