Position Summary

Principal Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new products, including creating design concepts, generating new product ideas, and evaluating ideas from external parties (e.g., doctors).
  • Develop new processes and technologies.
  • Prepare functional prototypes for market evaluation, cadaveric studies, and clinical (in vitro) feedback.
  • Lead R&D projects from concept through full commercialization.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, and Regulatory teams to ensure smooth and timely project progression.
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets.
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans.
  • Serve as a technical expert on product design, processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Produce the necessary documentation to support regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure the quality, safety, and clinical performance of new products.
  • Coordinate the transfer to manufacturing, including supervising and training operators, technicians, and QC personnel during the pre-production stage.
  • Develop and maintain Design History Files and Technical File documentation.
  • Prepare Clinical Trial Applications and liaise with the legal department, Health Authorities, and hospitals to secure required approvals and consensus.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the company from time to time.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or Professional Degree in Engineering (Material Science), Engineering (Chemical), Engineering (Polymer), or an equivalent field.
  • 6–8 years of experience in R&D or manufacturing within a medical device environment.
  • Knowledge in product verification/validation, medical device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA, MDD), new product development, rapid prototyping, CAD, and polymer-related processes.
  • Experience in Project Management.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in English and Malay, both written and verbal.
  • Solid technical background.
  • Creative and innovative mindset.
  • Knowledge of DOE and Statistics is an added advantage.
