Position Summary
Principal Responsibilities
- Design and develop new products, including creating design concepts, generating new product ideas, and evaluating ideas from external parties (e.g., doctors).
- Develop new processes and technologies.
- Prepare functional prototypes for market evaluation, cadaveric studies, and clinical (in vitro) feedback.
- Lead R&D projects from concept through full commercialization.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, and Regulatory teams to ensure smooth and timely project progression.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans.
- Serve as a technical expert on product design, processes, tooling, and materials.
- Produce the necessary documentation to support regulatory submissions.
- Ensure the quality, safety, and clinical performance of new products.
- Coordinate the transfer to manufacturing, including supervising and training operators, technicians, and QC personnel during the pre-production stage.
- Develop and maintain Design History Files and Technical File documentation.
- Prepare Clinical Trial Applications and liaise with the legal department, Health Authorities, and hospitals to secure required approvals and consensus.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the company from time to time.
Education / Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or Professional Degree in Engineering (Material Science), Engineering (Chemical), Engineering (Polymer), or an equivalent field.
- 6–8 years of experience in R&D or manufacturing within a medical device environment.
- Knowledge in product verification/validation, medical device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA, MDD), new product development, rapid prototyping, CAD, and polymer-related processes.
- Experience in Project Management.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
- Strong proficiency in English and Malay, both written and verbal.
- Solid technical background.
- Creative and innovative mindset.
- Knowledge of DOE and Statistics is an added advantage.
