Position Summary
This role leads the digital transformation of the manufacturing floor by enabling the MES system as the core digital platform and integrating big data analytics, including data sourced from SAP. The Senior Manufacturing Excellence Engineer will drive system deployment, process digitalization, and advanced data insights to improve quality, compliance, productivity, and decision-making across operations.
Principal Responsibilities
1. MES Enablement & System Deployment
- Serve as the MES System Lead responsible for module deployment, configuration, and continuous improvement.
- Convert manual/legacy processes into MES digital workflows (eBR/eDHR, routing, resource management, data collection).
- Ensure MES integration with SAP (material master, BOM/routing, work orders, batch data, inventory).
- Support system design, UAT, debugging, and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Maintain compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ALCOA+, ISO 13485.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, IT/OT, Supply Chain to ensure strong MES adoption.
2. Big Data Analytics (Including SAP & MES Data)
- Lead development of data pipelines combining MES, SAP, IoT, and inspection systems.
- Build dashboards for OEE, yield, downtime, scrap, cycle time, order status.
- Conduct RCA using integrated datasets.
- Support predictive analytics (quality, maintenance, scrap, optimization).
- Work with IT/OT on data lake architecture.
- Automate KPI reporting using Power BI, SQL, Python.
- Leverage SAP modules (MM, PP, QM, PM) for analytical insights.
3. Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Lead Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen initiatives powered by analytics.
- Use MES/SAP data for SPC, capability studies, bottleneck analysis.
- Drive CI projects for flow, waste reduction, equipment performance.
- Standardize processes across MES, SAP, and shop-floor systems.
4. Training, Support & Change Management
- Train operators, engineers, supervisors on MES and analytics usage.
- Create guides, eSOPs, troubleshooting documents.
- Drive digital adoption as a change champion.
Education / Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Systems, Mechanical).
- 5–7+ years experience in digital manufacturing, MES, or manufacturing excellence.
- Experience with MES platforms (Camstar, FactoryTalk, Tulip, Werum, etc.).
- SAP MM/PP/QM/PM experience.
- Skills in Power BI, SQL, Python, analytics.
- Understanding of ISO 13485, GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or above.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
- MES–SAP integration experience.
- Experience with data lakes, cloud analytics, OT/IT architecture.
- Familiarity with PLC/SCADA/IoT connectivity.
- Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
