Position Summary

Principal Responsibilities

•    Leads and facilitate Lean / IE / Six Sigma initiatives using proven industry methods and tools such as TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Line Balancing, DMAIC, Visual Management and 5S and work with plant management to create the Lean Vision and Roadmap for the plant. 
•    Establish labour standards through time studies and develops capacity models to ensure production commitments are maintained or exceeded and manpower planning are accurate.
•    Partners with Engineering & Manufacturing Value Streams to develop data automated reports to standardize and improve the efficiency of the Plant-wide KPI and Balanced Score Card data collection and reporting process.
•    Lead and facilitate plant layout and design projects with the Process development, Engineering, Production, Facilities and Manufacturing Teams. This includes creating designs, updating drawings, process flows, VSM that clarify and/or resolve relevant operational issues. 
•    Evaluates and design process and line balancing strategies and recommends layouts and process organization to support line sustainable throughput
•    Provide analytical support to manufacturing, engineering and maintenance to maintain accurate and cost effectiveness processes. Provide key integration link between manufacturing, engineering and maintenance.
•    Implements Kanban based pull systems and determine ideal levels of Kanban cards or min/max inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
•    Drive the ongoing development and advancement of lean manufacturing culture, principles and practices across the plant
•    Provide engineering expertise to identify and lead value improvement and waste elimination projects through Gemba (EHS, 5S & CI) for the manufacturing and overhead areas that drive plant and company performance improvements
•    Works with Enterprise Excellence team and Plant leadership team to drive continuous improvement programs, Kaizen events and team workshops.
•    Research, implement and perform cost savings analysis on propose cost savings projects.
•    Responsible for leading projects of varied scope, which include overseeing the department personnel in the implementation of new or modified equipment, products, or processes. 
•    Ensure proper documentation is prepared or corrected to reflect any changes implemented. 
•    Plan work schedules, expenditures, attend meetings, and prepare monthly reports as required, ensuring effective communication of ideas, information, and issues to appropriate stakeholders. 
•    Monitor and control programs, identify issues and ensure they are resolved. 
•    Assign, delegate and assist in the completion of engineering tasks or projects to junior level engineers. 
•    Performs other job-related duties assigned by supervisor and management. 
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
•    Requires minimum 5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering / Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen implementation with an ability to facilitate groups towards the implementation of lean in their production areas
•    Experience in a manufacturing environment for designing, specifying and implementing manufacturing equipment layout for maximum efficiency in process flow either to support PMO’s new product transfer or existing production.
•    Knowledge of ISO 13485 / FDA / GMP regulations.
•    Have a competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Arena Simulation knowledge required, and AutoCAD knowledge preferred.
•    Lean Six Sigma experience and certifications along with large-scale automation experience is a plus. (Lean Sigma or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or above.)
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Requires strong communications skills to understand and explain complex engineering problems to non-engineering personnel.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication, very good presentation style, multiple tasking, planning and organizing, good judgment, work independently and as a team member or project leader, able to transfer knowledge.
