Position Summary
Principal Responsibilities
1. Responsible for establishing, implementing, managing an EHS Management System (EHSMS) and supporting all document control requirements to Teleflex corporate, legal requirements, value streams management and site EHS for the company in alignment with corporate EHS policies, goals and requirements, while continually improve its effectiveness based on regulation.
2. In-charge of the overall Occupational Safety and Health initiatives for the company including planning, developing and implementing Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures, and programs in accordance to regulatory requirements, risk assessment and cultural needs.
3. Investigate industrial accidents and incidents to minimize the reoccurrence and prepare an incident report with the lesson learnt notifications. Investigate the incident using techniques such as PFMEA, RCA, 4P model and/or Why-why analysis. Monitor, analyse and suggest corrective and preventive action in preventing incidents.
4. Coordinate for identifying health and safety hazards, and environmental aspects, assessing their risk and impact, as well as recommending control measures based on hierarchy control.
5. Prepare and coordinate on EHS Audit and Inspection, status update and follow-up on the action list for closure. Compiling the corrective and preventive actions of the audit findings.
6. Regularly prepare, coordinate and conduct the training schedules about environmental, health and safety for each Value Stream and other relevant departments.
7. Develop and implement Contractor Safety Management on Teleflex premise. Verify implementation of the Job Safety Analysis for the Contactor Safety Management.
8. To liaise with local authorities such as DOSH, BOMBA, DOE regarding EHS implementation and to coordinate on local authorities' visits to plants and annual inspections on machinery.
9. To carry out performance evaluation programme and record-keeping based on local, national and corporate requirements such as Local Exhaust Ventilation System, Noise, Industrial Effluent Treatment System, Incident Management and Certificate of Fitness, while maintaining comprehensive indicators and trends.
10. To develop and implement specific tools and initiatives to increase Teleflex employees’ awareness regarding EHS requirements and to achieve company safety objectives.
11. To prepare contingency plans for emergency scenarios and implement the procedure by training and establishing the facilities and tools to manage the emergencies.
12. To attend meetings, seminars and training organized by local EHS Authorities if any.
13. To attend daily operation meeting, reviews and Gemba; as well as provide EHS advice or support knowledge.
14. To ensure relevant individual core competencies are well maintained per the certifying body requirements.
15. To oversee and coordinate with the Procurement team for PPE, materials, equipment and consumables purchases in terms of safety, health and environmental requirements.
16. Participate in the review of the site facility and production layouts, designs, modifications and other technical support or ideas required for manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and facility regarding life, safety, health and environmental requirements, regulations, and MET EHS requirements.
17. Assist, lead or/and manage the chemical management, chemical handling, waste generation, waste handling, and disposal activities plant-wide to ensure it complies at all times.
18. Ensure monthly sustainability parameters are reported before the stipulated deadline via online for the calendar month and year.
19. Utilizing the online system in the issuance of non-conformance for inspection and audits, incident management, and sustainability reporting.
Education / Experience Requirements
Qualification : Bachelor’s Degree in Safety / Environmental Engineering or Certified Safety & Health Officer or equivalent
Experience : 5-7 years working experience in relevant EHS field (manufacturing and/ or construction)
