Position Summary

Full time internship during the summer of 2024, to be based in Jaffrey, NH. Supports design, quoting, process development, validations, documentation, and production launches for new products, configurations, or line extensions. Works closely with customers to understand critical characteristics/specifications. Works closely with NPI and operations to understand manufacturing processes and support project tasks. Uses lab equipment (e.g., tensile testers, inspection equipment, vision systems, etc.) and manufacturing equipment with supervision (injection molders, tippers, drillers, extruders) as required. Understands new product introductions (NPI) systems and procedures to effectively contribute to project launch, progression, and closure

Principal Responsibilities

•    Ability to learn, understand, and take part in manufacturing process development.
•    Reviews new product opportunities against site capabilities and assists engineering in strategizing how and where this product will be manufactured.
•    Assists in writing and performing validations (IQ/OQ/PQ/TMV) to support new products manufacturing.
•    Works with manufacturing engineering, operations, planning, and quality to plan, execute, and complete new product project sample builds.
•    Creates product and tooling drawings/specifications utilizing SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
•    Works with suppliers to obtain quotes for new product projects.
•    Supports administrative tasks related to project and/or development activities.
•    Assists in on-time completion of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
•    Communicates and interfaces with internal and external customers including: Sales, Customer Service, and more.
•    Collects and analyzes test/inspection datum.
•    Participates in the qualification of new test & manufacturing equipment.
•    Supports customer communications and project tracking.
•    Assists with customer requests and requests for quotes (RFQs).
•    Assists with the completion and tracking of project deliverables.
•    Assists in collecting data and creating documentation for project deliverables.
•    Able to use critical thinking concepts.
•    Maintains a cooperative and motivational attitude with co-workers.
•    Ability to provide clear and concise written reports to supervisor or manager and to keep them abreast of activities and results.
•    Ability to read, understand, and apply procedures according to established guidelines.
•    Capture requirements, review processes, and propose areas for improvement.
•    Completes work in compliance with GMP and ISO regulations and within safety guidelines.
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
•    Sophomore, Junior, or Senior currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering, or Science related field 
•    Previous experience with working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
•    Familiar with GMP and medical experience preferred.

•    Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word & Excel required.

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Eagerness to learn and accept challenges and adaptable to change.
•    Basic CAD knowledge preferred.
•    Basic statistics knowledge preferred.
•    Basic plastics processing knowledge preferred.

•    Ability to think and work independently but also work well in teams.
•    Ability to adapt to a variety of software applications.
