Position Summary

This Manufacturing Engineer position will provide Teleflex Medical OEM with technical support and operating knowledge for our medical device operation. This person will take an important role in engineering functions such as validating and troubleshooting processes and identifying and implementing process improvements. The Manufacturing Engineer applies technical skills and a hands-on approach to medical manufacturing, working with cross-functional teams to solve problems and meet operational goals. 

Principal Responsibilities

•    Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
•    Develop and support plastics manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. (Injection molding, extrusion, Thermal forming, Bonding, Ultrasonic Welding, etc.) 
•    Troubleshoot and validate processes 
•    Identify and implement process improvements and improving efficiency by analyzing and production work flow, assembly, methods, space requirements, and equipment layout.
•    Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
•    Provides manufacturing decision making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
•    Create and update manufacturing and engineering documentation (SOPs, Specifications, Engineering Drawings, etc)
•    Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
•    Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
•    Plan and complete Engineering assignments
•    Support MRB Activities including NC, CAPA, SCAR as Engineering Lead
•    Other duties as assigned

Education / Experience Requirements


  • BS in Engineering Required.  BS in Plastics, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred. 
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience in a regulated environment preferred.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Experience with plastics manufacturing processes is essential.  (Injection molding, extrusion, Thermal forming, Bonding, Ultrasonic Welding, etc.)  
•    Engineering Drawing creation and interpretation (Solidworks, AutoCAD, GD&T)
•    Design for manufacturing
•    Manufacturing Process Development
•    Capital Equipment Specification, Development, and Support
•    Good oral and written communication skills. 
•    Initiate, prioritize and drive projects to completion
•    Self-starter with strong proactive work ethic, well-organized and detail-oriented who can work independently.
•    FDA/ISO manufacturing/documentation requirements, QSR, GMP, FMEA, IQ, OQ, PQ etc.
•    Process improvement methodology.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office required 
•    Statistical Techniques/Analysis using Minitab or similar tool
