Position Summary

Assists the Supervisor in supporting all functions of the manufacturing operations and/or a specific production area/cell in meeting quality and production goals.  

Principal Responsibilities

General Job:
•    Oversees machine/production operations, equipment maintenance, quality, waste/scrap, documentation, and production output.
•    Responsible for communication of key performance metrics to all levels of the organization (i.e. operators, engineers, managers, supervisors, etc.)
•    Lead and motivate extrusion technicians & operators to meet production targets.
•    Reviews completeness and accuracy of Job Folders, provides training, guidance and direction to the team.   
•    Ability to communicate to teams. Working towards Lean manufacturing solutions to obstacles when needed.  
•    Train team members on machine operations, process and procedures (MP’s, SOP’s, VAS etc.).
•    Responsible for “Green Copy” training as well as adherence & implementation of ECN changes.
•    Responsible for operator and technician performance to achieve maximum efficiency for all assigned areas.
•    Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime
•    Must be able to adapt to change in fast paced environment, directing smooth transfer of prioritization shifts.

Leadership Components:
•    Helps supervisor develop equipment assignments and directs maintenance/care (PM’s) of equipment.
•    Conducts quality checks, assists in root-cause analysis, problem solving and reports issues to Supervisor, assists in implementation of corrective action.
•    Stands in for Supervisor during NC/ECN process as needed
•    Acts as liaison between teams/shift operations communicating goals, targets and needs to smooth 24-hour operation.
•    Helps supervisor/VST review, change and implement training requirements based on business needs. 
•    This position may have an input in employment, performance management and other staffing decisions: assisting the Supervisor in writing performance evaluations.
•    Coordinates the scheduling of projects with the Engineering and Quality teams to assist in continuous improvement opportunity.
•    Assist the supervisor with directing off shift department leads in their day-to-day activities. 
•    Communicate effectively to all members of Value Stream, including leading the Value Stream meetings in the supervisor’s absence. 
•    Leads minimum of 1 team in Lean (5S, 7 Step, yield or other C.I.P.) opportunities yearly.

Education / Experience Requirements

•    High school education or equivalent required (College Degree preferred)
•    5+ years of manufacturing and/or Leadership (combination is acceptable) experience required
•    Experience operating machinery preferred 
•    ISO, FDA and Medical component experience required
•    Experience leading a team required

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Strong written, verbal and analytical experience required.  
•    Knowledge in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
•    Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities daily
•    Strong time management skills necessary for success in position
•    Strong attention to detail
•    Ability to multi-task
•    Ability to think and work independently but also work well in a team
