Position Summary

Responsible for planning and scheduling manufacturing orders to satisfy customer requirements.  Sources, purchases, plans, and schedules the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, supplies and related materials through production and inventory process.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Develops and maintains production schedules for melt production area.  Plans and produces production orders to be released and processed while monitoring capacity availability in key work centers.
•    Develops and publishes lead-time data to customer service based on both material availability and capacity available.
•    Communicate with Customer Service regarding changes in customer orders and projected shipment dates while maintaining service levels consistent with corporate requirements.
•    Specify and arrange for all deliveries into the plant based on corporate requirements (OTD, inventory turns, reduction of lead time, etc.).  
•    Generates requisitions for required purchased materials to support production schedules.  Expedites goods and / or services as required.
•    Analyzes, evaluates and controls inventory of finished goods and purchased parts.
•    Communicate with engineering, production, purchasing and other applicable departments to meet production schedules.
•    Maintains load to capacity data for paste operations and recommends manning changes to operations supervision to support schedule requirements.
•    Develop reports and performance measures to assist in the management of inventory levels. Lead-times, OTD, etc.
•    Reviews and signs all ECN’s that impact material requirements and / or processes and makes necessary changes to ship

Education / Experience Requirements

•    High School Diploma/GED equivalency required
•    2 year college degree with emphasis in Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing preferred.  Comparable experience will be considered. 
•    3+ years experience in production planning and purchasing preferred
•    Experience working in a medical device company with inventory, production planning, accounting and shipping/receiving experience preferred.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Proficient personal computer and system software skills to accomplish word processing, worksheets, and production control systems. Working competence with Personal Computers including SAP, IQS, Sales Force, MS/Windows, MS/Excel, MS/Word and an ability to learn other MS/Windows based applications.

 


•    Knowledge of purchasing techniques, bills of materials and routings, inventory control techniques, and MRP practices and techniques preferred.
•    Knowledge of master scheduling practices and plants capacities preferred.
•    An ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
•    An ability to think clearly, takes initiative, and work independently.
