Position Summary

The Associate Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for design of machinery, equipment, tooling, and fixturing used within Engineering and Operations based on appropriate SME input. In addition, this individual will support Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians with process and product-based projects. It is expected that the candidate can design existing and conceptual equipment within Solidworks. Revision control, documentation storage, and as-built verification are critical skills to be successful in this position.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Work with other personnel to design and model new and existing equipment and tooling, create or update facility maps and architectural drawings
•    Work with the VST groups to provide support on critical projects of a mechanical and process/product-based nature.
•    Support operations and engineering by updating existing drawings as discrepancies are found, or as changes are made.
•    Initiate and own Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for drawings and other controlled documentation.
•    Evaluate best practices for storage of existing documentation.
•    Create and release documentation for purchase and assembly of equipment.
•    Determines cost of equipment, parts, and tooling related to designed equipment.  Assists in the preparation of capital purchase requests.
•    Assists in the writing and execution of validations.

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
•    1 + years of experience designing components within a medical device facility utilizing CAD software preferred

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Proficiency with Solidworks and AutoCAD
•    Experience with creating/updating facility/architectural and P&ID drawings a plus.
•    Self-starter with strong proactive work ethic, well-organized and detail-oriented.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
•    Experience in medical device industry is a plus.
•    Capable of working independently, yet quickly and clearly communicate issues, risks and risk mitigation plans to company management.
•    A quick learner and an effective listener, learning and understanding customer needs across a broad range of applications.
•    Strong initiative and sense of urgency about meeting scheduled project deliverables.
•    Draw solutions from a wide range of experience
