Position Summary

Using input from functional managers, provides direct supervision to production departments in implementing manufacturing schedules, staffing, training requirements, quality and cost controls, evaluating and achieving production standards, and safety programs.  

Principal Responsibilities

•    Coordinates all activities for overall work center performance.
•    Focus on supervision of production activities toward customer satisfaction and attainment of production quotas, lead and delivery times. Coordinating and directing daily production activities to include scheduling, staffing, training, and in-process quality.  
•    Calculates operational metrics such as efficiency, yield, scrap, throughput, and capacity.
•    Evaluates work cell efficiencies to drive improvements and achieve targeted rates.
•    Supports operational excellence through identification and implementation of cost improvement projects.
•    Responsible for implementing and maintaining use of lean tools such as Kanban and 6S.
•    Directs and coordinates, with operators, activities concerned with production of company products, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, machine and equipment capability.
•    Technical proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and repair issues.
•    Assists Operations and Value Stream Managers in establishing production, quality and cost control standards, production, product and staffing scheduling, assists in budget preparation and monitoring.
•    Plans and directs production activities and established production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
•    Coordinates production activities with purchasing, maintenance, engineering, and quality activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
•    Assists Operations and Value Stream Managers by providing data and analysis on production, quality control, maintenance, and operational issues to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, operating or production problems.
•    Owns and/or drives to completion all or phases of non-conformances and CAPA’s within the assigned Value Stream.
•    Lead and implement business improvement processes to achieve or exceed budgeted operation results.
•    Partners cross functionally with team leaders and operators to review production activity, machine operation, training, waste/scrap, and quality reports to determine a course of action and changes in operations.
•    Provide leadership and development of team leaders and/or operators, transition operations to high performance team environment.
•    Overall supervisory responsibility for assigned Coventry manufacturing departments.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, quality system and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include hiring and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
•    Assists in implementing and coordinating organizational policies and goals.
•    Ensure compliance with all corporate, local, state, federal policies and regulations. Completes work in compliance with GMP and ISO regulations and within safety guidelines.
•    Promotes organization in industry, manufacturing, trade associations and participates in community relations.

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
•    Minimum of one year working experience in a manufacturing environment required. Medical device or other regulated industry experience preferred. 
•    Previous experience as a supervisor, manager, team leader, senior lead or similar leadership role preferred. 
•    Previous engineering experience preferred.
•    Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Good working knowledge of operations, quality standards, policies, and procedures as well as FDA/ISO guidelines and applications.
•    General understanding of production administration functions 
•    Ability to read drawings and blueprints, follow formulas, and read measurement instruments.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
•    Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
•    Ability to successfully coach and supervise a team.
•    Ability to work cross-functionally daily with engineering and quality representatives.
•    Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
•    Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities.
