Position Summary

Under the supervision of an employee of the product development team (R&D, QA/RA, or Operations), the Engineering Intern/Co-op assists the product development team in the researching, designing, testing, and validating engineering solutions appropriate to each project assigned and supports maintaining the Quality Management System.

This Co-Op is a full-time position (Monday-Friday) for the spring of 2025, to be based on-site at our Cincinnati site. It is intended to start in January 2025.

Principal Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
•    Develops design concepts for products, parts, and assemblies
•    Develops product documentation that supports high quality production
•    Delivers products and documentation that meets company procedures
•    Follows Quality Management Systems and assists with creation of records, to support QMS projects
•    Stays abreast of new and evolving technologies as assigned
•    Proposes process changes to improve quality, cost, and schedule
•    Develops project documentation including CAD data, reports, minutes, and presentations
•    Uses model shop and 3D printers to build prototypes and breadboards
•    Participates in project research and brainstorming teams
•    Objectively observes and understands user research inputs
•    May participate in usability tests and observational research
•    Performs experiments and testing supporting product development
•    Helps maintain the laboratory and other facilities
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in engineering
•    Prior experience within an engineering design and manufacturing environment preferred
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Good analytical and problem-solving skills 
•    Intermediate knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD
•    Basic knowledge in geometric tolerance analysis
•    Proficient in documentation, dimensioning and specification writing
•    Basic skills in model shop processes/equipment and manufacturing processes
•    Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Writes and prepares documents in a concise, logical, grammatically appropriate, and detailed format
•    Willingness to take direction from others and to accept constructive feedback
•    Excellent oral communication skills

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $19-$24 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
