Position Summary

The Operations Training Leader is the site owner and subject matter expert in on-the-job (OTJ) training; ensuring that employees are trained in a timely and effective manner to perform their jobs safely, correctly, and conscientiously.  This position has primary responsibility for developing OTJ Trainers, developing, sustaining, and improving OTJ training processes and practices, and working cross-functionally to ensure an effective training system.    

Principal Responsibilities

•    Certify OTJ trainers according to the Training Within Industry (TWI) Job Instruction methods and Teleflex standard certification procedures
•    Coach, mentor, and assist OTJ trainers in preparing for OTJ training including developing training standards (Job Instruction Break Downs)
•    Coach and mentor OTJ trainers in effective training delivery according to the TWI Job Instruction 4-Step method and other training delivery techniques
•    Assist with selection of and periodic assessment of OTJ trainers 
•    Serve as site owner and subject matter expert in OTJ training methods, deployment, and processes including sustaining and improvement practices
•    Work cohesively with site HR and QA Training Functions to manage, sustain, and improve site training processes including interdependent legal, compliance, and documentation requirements as needed
•    Work with Site Operations and QA Management to help plan and coordinate training
•    Work with site quality and engineering to ensure training standards and processes are integrated and harmonized with the documentation and Quality Management System
•    Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the on-the-job training processes and periodically report out to site, regional, and global stakeholders
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    High school diploma or GED required
•    Five years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
•    Working knowledge of quality systems, compliance and training requirements in a regulated industry preferred
•    Previous experience in conducting and leading Train the Trainer programs preferred
•    Knowledge of “Training Within Industry” Job Instruction methods is an advantage

•    Ability to communicate effectivity with a variety of personalities, backgrounds, and experience levels
•    Self-motivated with an ability to work collaboratively and acquire new knowledge and skills
•    Presentation, coaching, and mentoring skills
•    Ability to break down complex and technical procedures/concepts into simplified tasks and instructions
•    Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines
•    Curious and questioning nature
•    Proficient with MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
