Position Summary

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for supporting the process improvement, process optimization, and process measurement activities for the manufacturing operations. The Industrial Engineer will help drive process improvements, set work standards, evaluate operational costs, validate capital expenditures, review operational procedures, determine the most economical process flows, and perform project management functions. The selected candidate will create, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing systems, reducing costs while maintaining standards of operations, with the goal of eliminating wastefulness in production processes and make sure systems make the best-integrated use of workers, machines, materials, information, and energy.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with engineers to design cost-effective manufacturing layouts and building ergonomics for product lines (value streams).
  • Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated.
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organizations competitive edge.
  • Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions.
  • Develops and maintains management information, planning, and control systems.
  • Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in a manufacturing operation
  • Ability to develop process maps, flow charts and floor layouts in AutoCAD, Visio or equivalent.
  • Ability to design, develop, implement and improve integrated systems that included people, materials, information, equipment, and cost.
  • Proven track record of successful process improvements resulting in improved safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Capable of performing root cause analysis to determine cause and solutions to various technical manufacturing issues.
  • Product costing knowledge and ability to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Process-focused / Results -driven and displays high energy and enthusiasm in challenging the status quo and driving continuous improvement.
  • Thorough understanding of ergonomics and applicable industry standards.
  • Familiarity with Simulation Software, Kanban Planning, etc. will be considered a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Familiarity with operating in an ISO 13485 and Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Work in a matrixed organization, across international regions
  • Desirable Certifications:  Lean Practitioner, Six Sigma, and related certifications.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility and access all machinery.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
