Position Summary

Under supervision, Laboratory Technician I (LT I) will perform necessary duties including but not limited to: environmental monitoring, chemistry testing, training associates, maintaining equipment performance, reporting test results, and reviewing documents. LT I will perform testing that is required to meet the specifications set by Teleflex and regulatory bodies under Good Manufacturing Practices.

**NOTE: This is a 2nd/3rd Split Shift Position. Hours are approximately 7:30pm-3:30am

Principal Responsibilities
  • Collection of environmental monitoring samples of machines and controlled environments. This includes air, surface, and water sampling.
    Responsible for in-process and final product chemistry testing, LAL testing, and TOC testing.
    Laboratory equipment cleaning and sanitizing, troubleshooting instrumentation errors, and media/reagent/chemical preparation.
    Support on-demand production needs such as: passivation, NaCl standards, post-media samples, etc.
    Review laboratory procedures for efficiency and effectiveness and update as needed; maintain reports and records per cGMP.
    Responsible for monitoring inventory, stocking materials, and preparing purchase requisitions for supplies as needed.
    Identify and report safety violations and potential safety hazards to both safety members and supervisors.
    Demonstrate professional responsibility by cooperating with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and departmental goals and objectives.
    Maintains compliance and principles of accepted employee conduct as identified in the Teleflex employee handbook and as specified in departmental goals and objectives.
    Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education / Experience Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a manufacturing/medical device industry OR <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">have 4 years of education in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related science field.

(Note: Laboratory work experience in a related field may substitute for education requirement.)

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
  • Working knowledge of techniques, hazards, equipment, and terminology used in a laboratory environment, and knowledge of proper laboratory safety precautions and procedures.
  • Must have understanding of bacteriological principles, techniques and terminology used in the medical device manufacturing environment, and the regulations and standards pertaining to medical device laboratories.
  • Quality control techniques for laboratory tests; operation and care of laboratory equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable in using laboratory equipment such as: pH meter, autoclave, fume and laminar flow hood, analytical balance, viable and non-viable air samplers, filtration devices, TOC instruments, conductivity instruments, and titration equipment.
  • Perform the full range of laboratory tests and examinations as outlined in job description.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Maintain proper laboratory health and safety precautions and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain clear and concise records and reports.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
